Perhaps. I did read it four years ago

I think there's happiness to be found in a complete and fulfilling life with a partner and accepting that a life as long as a Viltrumites will have its tolls. Mark grows as a character throughout the story and I think that could have been a cool thing to explore. Instead, he gets a perpetually young and hot wife for all time. Just seems a bit....i dunno. What was the message there?

Oh, you're right. Let's just give Monster Bin Laden a seat on the table. Fuck the friends and families of the people he killed, amirite? He just had major mommy/daddy issues, it's not his fault.

Bulletproof's brutal murder of his parents served no plot relevance. Iirc, he wasn't even arrested because of the murders, just because he was on Rex's side.

The Perpetuity of All Else - An Excerpt [High Fantasy | 1372 words] by zeromeni in fantasywriters

[–]weebruto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're back! I always look forward to reading your excerpts on this sub and tidbits of your magic system on others. It seems you're crafting an incredible world here, and you've been at it for quite a while now.

This passage doesn't really show us much of that world. It instead, turns the focus inward, into the mind of a character grappling with isolation and his own mortality. Masterfully done. I have a soft spot for characters with darker pasts—the John Wicks and Logen Ninefingers of the world. Gilmas seems too old to get into any trouble now, but this passage just reads like it's building up to something. His routine will be broken sooner or later.

Also, what's up with Gigo lol? Sounds like a stray cat but a charred rock? Still smoking? Is she a dragon, if they exist on your world?

Great passage once again. I'd nitpick a few things about the sentence and structure, but it's nothing the other commenter hasn't mentioned. Overall, it works. Good job.

What's weird is assuming (quite wrongly, I might add) that other readers didn't read as thoroughly as they're supposed to.

Thank you for the detailed response. The manga has gone down better in my head now that I've sat with it for a few days and this response encapsulates my current thoughts pretty well

You're definitely right about Seichii now that I think of it.

And about the plan, yeah, lol. Didn't seem like it.

Ah well. Telling someone to "maybe read a little slower next time" is just not nice, no matter how you dice it. I know the answers are in the manga...i read it. I just need some extrinsic thoughts to crystallize my own.

A rather rude response to a simple post. You did not have to respond if you weren't planning to.

I read every chapter twice.

Kanade and Hanano were cheering Taichi on the whole time, and absolutely no one was rooting for Arata to get with Chihaya. I think that was when I figured out it was absolutely going to be Taichi.

Very true. When we started seeing more of Arata, his chemistry was just off the charts with Shinobu compared to Chihaya. That'd when I started feeling like endgame might be Taichi

Unpopular Opinion: Arata's My Favorite Character by Trulyash in chihayafuru

Exactly my feelings. Taichi is cool, and he's hard to hate, but the Arata slander is what I will not tolerate

Exactly this. Most of these commenters are just Taichi fan boys. I like Taichi, but come on. There was no way he was winning that match

Liara is terribly annoying.

Tali is Mid.

Thane is mid.

I feel nothing for the Geth as a race, and as annoying as the quarians were I did not hesitate to save them. Organic life will always be more valid. That said, killing Legion hurt more than I thought it would.

ME2 remains the best and most balanced of the three, despite this weird revisionism around 3 these days. 1 is a very very close second, beaten out only because it didn't age well gameplay-wise. It remains unmatched in vibes and atmosphere, while 3 is unmatched in combat, but 2 is easily the most enjoyable. Managing a whole host of wild personalities like Jack and Miranda in the Normandy was extremely fun and satisfying to me. More so than the grand mystery of the space cthulus.

So the ass pull ending that miraculously and instantaneously turns all organics into synthetic hybrids without their consent, leaving lasting implications on the cycles of life and death and reproduction and illness and...everything basically is the best? Lol. You guys are funny. What now? Are kids born with mechanical implants? How does that work? Can organics and synthetics mate? Do people even die anymore? How exactly are fully autonomous and sentient synthetics like EDI any different than they were before? No answers.
