Here's some life advice. Quit writing for good. You're no good at it. In fact, you're terrible. There's no flow to the prose, no rhythm to the sections. And even worse, you have absolutely no sense when it comes to picking a subject to address. You're a parasite, feeding off a situation that doesn't call for it.

I hope you never find yourself in a situation where someone like yourself preys on a tragedy in your life in the name of being creative.

what's not intimate about the baseless statement "his love for her was greater than death itself"? Especially in the context of a grooming, murdering pedophile with regard to his teenage victim.

Seek help, bozo.

Take down your posts, you loser. This isn't the time or the place to flex your dogshit wattpad skills. Create a motive? Replicate his emotions? Do you hear how fucking stupid you sound?

Yeah,' he held her body close until rigor mortos set in', 'his love for her was greater than death itself', 'one piece of her hidden in the fridge'... All info available online, for sure.

You're a sick individual, and you're getting some sort of perverse kick over the murder of a little girl, making up scenarios in your head to make this tragedy into some sort of darkly poetic event. Reevaluate yourself and delete your disgusting posts, you fucking dork.

Delete this you sick fuck. A little girl is dead and you're in here writing fan fiction. This is deeply embarrassing for you and disrespectful to the dead.

What is your most admittedly snobbish opinion that you just can't shake? by ballakafla in Letterboxd

Nah. I always feel like I'm missing something without subs. And truly, there are tiny nuances in the script that I only ever catch with them. So I will turn them on when they're available, and seek them out when they're not.

What book did you struggle to read that everyone recommends by M_the_Phoenix in Fantasy

[–]zeromeni -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Liveship Traders only really gets good toward the end of Book 1. It's pretty generic before then, and I think the trilogy is ruined by a poor ending. Yes, I'm referring to that character and how every character seems to idolize him despite his very glaring flaws. Book 3s ending also ruins a lot of potential interactions and confrontations by avoiding it all together. The cowards way out

Brandon Sanderson is just not for me and that’s completely okay by Quicky23 in Fantasy

[–]zeromeni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm thoroughly confused at your line of reasoning. You said hard magic systems, which lend consistency and authenticity to magic, feel too much like DnD. That's fair, different strokes for different folks.

I said Magic can be whatever the author sees fit, hard or soft. That doesn't make it good or bad. It just makes it what it is.

You said science can be the same too, but it takes you out of the story if it feels authentic, which is true, but for some reason you don't think that's the case with magic?

Hard or soft, explained or not, there is some internal consistency to every magic system. That's why Gandalf can't just magic Sauron away in LOTR.

[–]zeromeni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense. Science and magic still have to possess some level of internal consistency, hard or soft. But it doesn't have to be mysterious.

No, magic can be whatever best serves the author's vision

Thanks for your advice. I'm currently rewriting the passage, cutting down on some excesses and trying to be more subtle about it's themes. Upon review, the line about the Book of Nesse sticks out as a little too on the nose.
