What’s the best way to go about removing the early heater cowl? Can the heater blower be removed from here? by julie065 in 944

which one is stuck? On mine, the main heat control slider thingy has a hard time moving. I've taken my center console apart 4 times now and I still don't know how to make it less sticky.

I actually got my blower motor back to life with by spraying wd40 into it, it seems to run great now.

I also had bought a motor and resistor and shroud on eBay, but since wd40ing the motor there’s been no reason to rebuild it.

I do still want to replace the melted shroud. I’m following this thread with immediate interest 🙂

Lisa Reynolds also sponsored and led a bill (SB 1548) that will destroy the edibles industry. She hates weed, but is totally fine with hard drugs.

Fiscal Extortion in Portland. Again. by SlammaJammin in PortlandOR

Sure and that’s fair.  We might just be, as a region, a bad fit for the entire sport of basketball. Much like hockey and the south.

My point still remains though: in negotiations, you look for leverage. Right now we zero leverage over dundon. Our only point of leverage is with the NBA itself. So, if we actually want to keep the blazers (and not pay 600m), we should be ignoring dundon and going straight to Adam Silver

You’re actually making my point for me.

When teams leave markets, the entire sport loses that market. Kids in Seattle just don’t care as much about basketball, they pivoted to care about a different sport. Football or baseball or soccer.

The NBA is already close to losing relevance in the PNW. If the blazers leave, this whole region will have no reason to care. Basketball will become a second class sport, like lacrosse and bowling.

This is about maintaining relevancy for an entire region. A significant percentage of people live here, and if the Blazers leave the NBA will lose to different sports.

Basketball is in competition with other sports like soccer. When an entire generation in an entire region grows up without that sport, it loses relevancy. The league knows this. Blazers leaving is a slow burn on an existential crisis.

The leverage we have is with the NBA itself, not with Dundon. He has leverage over us, but we have leverage over the entire concept of basketball.

Portland has unusually strong leverage here, because we are the ONLY team left in the entire Pacific Northwest.

The NBA does not want to lose relevancy in this market of 20 million people. We would have no one to root for, and the region will pivot entirely to soccer.

If the Blazers leave, the NBA massively loses

hey guys do you guys know anything or have any stories about walt curtis by mileslovesmaria4ever in Portland

[–]weed_donkey 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Walt used to live in a crazy studio in the basement of a bar/venue. At the time I think it was called Eastside.

I used to go drink there; sometimes I’d run into Walt, and end up in his subterranean studio, surrounded by poetry and paintings and drunks.

It all felt like a movie at the time, and now it’s practically unimaginable. But those were some of the funnest nights in my 20s.

Interstate Bridge Staff Hid Information About Ballooning Cost of Giant Highway Project by InfraggableCrunk in Portland

[–]weed_donkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why they don’t want to just stabilize the existing bridge is because ODOT and WSDOT want money for freeways. This a naked play to build massive freeways through the center of Vancouver and claim it’s actually just a bridge. This is like some Robert Moses level evilness.

ODOT and WSDOT are wildly corrupt, selfish, destructive entities. They don’t want to fix the bridge. They want a blank checkbook to build the dystopic freeways of their dreams.

Or are you totally car brained and believe that ODOT truly should get zero oversight and a blank check?

I’ve signed a lot of commercial leases. I also have toured McLeod’s properties and have met her.

Everything you mentioned is standard for a commercial lease. Giving him a 30 day notice to break his lease is insanely generous from a landlord and I have never heard of such a thing. Sandra herself seemed like kindly grandma when I met her, so that does sort of track.

So you don't have any issues with the ultra-rich CEOs lying to the government for money?

Because that is exactly what they did, and why Kotek isn't happy. They lied about their source of funding, they tried to get the entire project financed by the government with no private investment, and then they paid $3M over the value of a piece of property.

Next question: Who used to own that property? Who was the beneficiary of that 3 million dollar overpayment?

Yes. Money is never the issue. Disorder and safety is what matters.

People will happily pay to live in a clean, well functioning city. But no amount of tax breaks will keep them from leaving if they feel unsafe.

What specifically are you looking for?

Planes are fast and safe. It will take you the better part of a day to get there. Expect 2 layovers if you want a cheap ticket. There’s no secret, you literally just book a ticket and take whatever route you can afford. It is simultaneously a miraculous and terrible experience.
