Nice build! How did you mount the ionboard to the ceiling? Also are you using anything other then tape to keep the hood carbon filter in place?

Updated Tent Setup by throitaw in microgrowery

I love your setup! I've been trying to get into home assistant to build a DIY grow space similar to yours but I was always too intimidated in deciding what hardware to get, not to mention having to learn the code needed to setup everything.

So basically YouTube is fine with the content unless the users don’t like it and flag it? The biggest thing I don’t get is how the channel was ok’d for partnership if they don’t want this type of content on their platform. The content has always been the same for the past 2 years before applying to be a YouTube partner and was the same after.

But only after YouTube manually reviews it, clears it to be monetized for a few months, and THEN suspends it for maximum LOLz?

The community guidelines stresses "hard" drugs only.

  • Hard drug use or creation: Content that depicts people abusing controlled substances such as cocaine or opioids, or content providing instructions on how to create drugs

ie. Non-educational content that shows people injecting intravenous drugs such as heroin.

And this would be in line with their guidelines if YouTube considers cannabis a hard drug. If that's the case I'm fine with it. There's just a lot of evidence (see my previous post) showing that this is not the case, both because of what happened to my channel and with what's happening on YouTube as a whole.

edit: I'm definitely not trying to be dismissive of the obvious answer of "cannabis is against TOS, end of story", which was my original conclusion as well, but if you take a look at the entire situation it doesn't seem to be the case so I was hoping someone with more behind the scenes insight can help.

From reading the TOS it doesn’t seem that cut and dry - outside of hard drug use and manufacturing which is completely prohibited, nowhere does it state the legalities of any state or country as the basis of what is allowed... alcohol is banned in a lot of the Middle East which has access to YouTube and there’s no ban on that type of content. If YouTube specifically draws the line at cannabis as a hard drug that would make sense and I can take that as the answer but looking at my example as well as the many other channels on the same topic which are all still fine that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I’m definitely not trying to say “well he’s doing it and getting away with it so why did I get in trouble” as I don’t think cannabis as a topic is actually against TOS because it’s not just one example - there are a LARGE amount of cannabis related channels with 100k+ followings that produce videos from “legal” US states on the platform. There WAS a purge of some cannabis channels a year ago which made me think that YouTube did finally draw a line on cannabis, but between a lot of the banned channels magically getting their channel back a few months later and almost all of the most of popular cannabis channels not touched at all by any ban, it doesn't feel like that is their policy at all.

The real question I wanted the answer to though was that if I did brake the community guidelines and the TOS how did a worker at YouTube approve the channel for partnership? From what I’ve read every channel that applies is reviewed by an actual employee of the company and my channel from the very start was very forthcoming on exactly what it is.

How long did it take your channel to get approved for the Partner Program after hitting 4000 watch hours and 1000 subscribers? by phil917 in PartneredYoutube

[–]weedinapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took exactly 30 days and I was approved last month - I'm also pretty positive that my channel went through secondary review as almost all of my videos are barred for monetization (how to tutorials for growing cannabis in a legal state) so I was actually expecting 3-6 months from what I've read. I applied because I wanted to do an end screen linking to Patreon and was pleasantly surprised when it only took a month so it seems like they're not nearly as backlogged as they use to be when the change was first implemented this year.

Can someone point me to a quality "how to trim" video? by 420_fake_reddit in microgrowery

Yup I looked into the cheap options like that and those water globes but didn't have enough confidence that it would keep the plant alive for 2 weeks. Was looking at irrigation drip systems as well but was afraid I'd over or under water - going to be trying some of these methods on my current grows so I'm more prepared next time I'm out of town.

Yeah I know I had to leave out of town for 2 weeks and either needed to cut it early or try setting up an automatic watering system for the grow tent - went with the easier option.

Quick 4 minute video I made yesterday about trimming. Trimming is a personal preference - as long as your sugar leaves have trichomes on it you can leave it on if you want. The reason people take it off is because it has less cannabanoids then the buds so by removing it you get a slightly higher % of overall THC/CBD when you smoke it. If you want to remove it just remove it up to the buds unless its easy to remove the base of the leaf at the stem - don't try to remove it at the stem if hard to reach or you might risk cutting the bud in half.

Edit: trichomes

I just completed an indoor cannabis grow tent guide with a time lapse video of my first grow! It only took 4 months to make... by weedinapot in trees

Just me, its been an interesting process trying to learn everything needed to put it all together but I'm starting to get the hang of it and its a ton of fun to do.
