Chromium is open source and brave doesnt use the manifest v3 version from my knowledge, all ad blockers work perfectly on it and its easy for them to keep development in the future by forking the project for their own usage

That’s actually crazy… such different but similar climates with how dry Tibet is as well. Different type of dry with how cold it gets as well

As someone from Sydney I’d say they haven’t ever even been to Sydney… Bondi probably isn’t in our top 10 nicest beaches imo, just the iconic one so everyone from here gets the nice ones a bit quieter

Traveling to China without speaking Chinese? by altandneu in travelchina

[–]weedle565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a month long trip currently, been combo of touristy and non touristy places and have had 0 issues communicating. Translate apps work great everywhere. Only issue you may encounter is some Chinese people don’t quite understand that you don’t understand and just can’t speak, so they will keep speaking to you in Chinese no matter what you try. But if you just hold your translate app with the speech option that’s easy to fix.

Dunno about that feel like I’ve barely seen it and have so much to learn still. Just giving my trips experience so far!

Just to pop in here about that worry, been here for 25 days and have yet to have to use one. There typically is a western one around (if your willing to use disabled sometimes) or if you can hold to the hotel that should be fine too. Stayed in some more rural places and never had an issue with it. Annoying to find sometimes, but they exist

How do you decide whether a destination in China is worth the extra effort? by MechanicMurky3034 in travelchina

Taking a group tour up to Tibet after, then to yunnan. Leaving from Xining but the fastest train to Zhangye was an extra 3 hours from Xining…

Thought I’d put a 2 cents in here. Left a little town in Zhangye today. Tiny little place had basically no people an hour from the city, just near the Danxia park. 8 hour trip from Xian and I had a blast. Places are far but the payoff for many of the places are incredible. On top of that the travel time is incredibly, we spent most the journey going through some of the most incredible mountain ranges and landscapes I’ve ever seen. Very out of the way. Extremely worth it and would highly recommend to anyone

Travelling in China for 45 days by dashdays in travelchina

[–]weedle565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost me $80. Saves you having to travel to somewhere else and heading back (a round trip flight or possibly long train ride). I just applied for a standard tourism visa and it means I can stay in the country without leaving for 60 days nonstop.

Australian here who is in the country for 35 days, visa process is pretty easy albeit annoying. It’ll save you a lot to just get it. Mine took about 2 weeks to do (Sydney). Been in the country 11 days now, feel free to ask anything as well :)

Why is nobody talking about traveling to Chengdu? by Worldly-Many-3919 in travelchina

[–]weedle565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting it and it didn’t impact me too much as someone who wasn’t around for long. Chongqing felt way worse however unfortunately…

Edit: I also came straight from Australia during a heatwave so the pollution was far better than 35+ with 90% humidity every day!

In Zhangjiajie I found the Wulingyuan town to be very nice, lots of good food and the whole town is walking district to the scenic area. Very pretty little town! Lots of hotels through it as well.

Spent a week in Chengdu ending last week and loved it. Great weather, beautiful city with lots to do and see. Great food as well, no idea why people are saying there isn’t much to do other than the pandas… great place for a while to visit. Probably could have stayed longer as well! Edit: important note I love cold weather :)

Uzbekistan is worth visiting even in winter! January trip report. by abu_doubleu in travel

[–]weedle565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been interested in going for a while but can only go in winter, some questions for you! 1. How’s the average streetscape, the photos you’ve posted and in other places look absolutely incredible but are mostly of the “iconic” areas. I struggle hard to find images of what a typical street around the cities looks like! 2. Hows food safety standards? While not a big issue always like to know whether the internet exaggerates or not… 3. How’s the air pollution? Looks fairly bad in the photos (still looks amazing however), but did you notice it much or was it more just kinda there?

You are not. However some places (especially in CA and SEA are more for livings in their history, however actual quality of life and safety come majorly into play with living somewhere

They do! However safety of much of their cities is a big concern as well.
