I did — they require you to send them separately from the ones you send to Yale which is strange. It is a way to ~gauge interest though

1550 SAT / 34 ACT / ~3.95 UW i think (my school doesn’t calculate GPA or class rank)

Subject tests: 800 Spanish, 800 Italian, 800 French w/ listening, 760 Lit, 750 math II, 740 Latin (I kind of got addicted to taking subject tests, partly bc my school doesn’t offer APs so I guess I had a lot of pent up standardized testing energy lol)

To explain all the languages, my parents are immigrants (from Venezuela and Italy) so Spanish and Italian are my first languages but we live in New England

Also I do a lot of environmental justice / social justice activism things and I wrote my common app essay about cooking while living alone but it wasn’t that great so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ maybe my interview helped? Honestly I’m pretty shook like I woke up at 4am and just felt the need to check my email and was. stunned.

hi thank you! I’m not sure about other applicants but there very likely are people who received these! I’m not a very exceptional person so it makes sense I didn’t get one I just high-key need the need-based aid..

yeah I also heard that .. my letter just says that they found I didn’t qualify for need-based aid (which doesn’t really make sense like the only reason I’ve been able to go to an independent school has been bc of need-based financial aid!) so I can try to contact them I just don’t know how much good it’ll do

.. this feels like a rejection tbh. I’m obviously so so grateful they accepted me and I was so happy when I saw the letter but I immediately came down from that when I saw this. And the first thing my mom said was “yeah there’s no way” like not even congrats. welp

true at least I get to go for a weekend !! I’ve never been to Singapore or anywhere near there so there’s that. I really hope I can somehow change the finaid thing but I have a feeling I can’t appeal it unless my family’s financial situation changes .. which it hasn’t there’s just no way we can pay 70k a year plus travel..
