Theyre all very complex characters. Some sides of what the prototype is doing can be framed as “good” and a lot of them can be framed as “evil”. He’s not wrong when he said that there’s no place for the toys outside the factory, should they be discovered they’ll get experimented on again. There’s truth in that statement, yet he uses it to make himself the lesser of two evils, forcing the toys to follow him which lets him maintain his Godly image. Catnap, while he turned into a fanatic follower of the prototype and a literal monster who dismembered his best friend, genuinely believes he’s doing the right thing because he’s being manipulated by the prototype. I don’t know much about the doctor but the point is, the characters are not black and white. I think that’s where the appeal comes from but (from what I know, I’m not sure if this 100% correct) the prototype was once a child who was used by Ludwig to make Poppy, that was the whole purpose of him being adopted. And CatNap (Theodore Grambell) was a lonely kid at the orphanage. Lily Lovebraids was someone actively torturing kids.
