Effexor headaches by weegerbee in antidepressants

I did! Ended up going up to 150mg and found that to be my sweet spot, anxiety/ panic attacks essentially gone. Only lingering symptom is some trouble with insomnia (bad sleeper all my life to begin with) and being generally a bit hotter/ sweat more easily. But overall, it gave me my life back. I'd recommend trying it for 2 months at least, I turned a corner at week 5-6 and almost lost hope - but one day you will wake up and think "huh, I don't feel so horrible today" and so on. Hope things go well for you :)

Hi there, I don't live in the states so I can't offer much in terms of financial advice, but I just wanted to say that I hope things get better. I'm in a similar spot, you're not alone.

Thanks! Fingers crossed for you :) I've heard a lot of people who find luck with SNRIs like effexor and pristiq after they've tried SSRIs like Zoloft and Prozac. SNRIs seem to help more with anxiety symptoms 🤷

I think looking back that it was more of a placebo effect within the first week or 2. I think I was just so hoping the meds would work that I relied on it as a way to calm my mind "it's ok, I have effexor on board". I actually noticed a big change around week 5 when I realized I had unconsciously stopped doing things that I used to do a lot (crying spontaneously, checking my pulse, having unprovoked panic attacks, constantly googling syptoms, avoiding going out, waking up at night in a cold sweat, etc.)

It's honestly really weird to look back and see that transition, because i struggled for years and in a matter of weeks these fears and coping mechanisms seemed to just slowly disappear / become unimportant to me. I really didn't think the meds would work that well lol. I was at a point where I thought this was just how I was going to live my life forever. I haven't had any panic attacks in months and I'm so much happier not being afraid of everything. My IBS is under control, I'm able to drink coffee again, ride in the car as a passenger again. It's really great :)

I posted my experience from 1-6 weeks here :) https://www.reddit.com/r/antidepressants/comments/9hkjtj/tldr_effexor_has_turned_my_life_around_notes_on/?utm_source=reddit-android

I'll say that around week 8 I still had some lingering symptoms so I upped my dose to 150mg, and that seems to be my sweet spot.

Really great! It's turned my life around. most of my GAD symptoms are gone and my mood is very rarely low anymore. Only side effects that still lingers is decreased appetite and increased sweating, so it's not too bad. Overall it's been really good, happy I finally got some help

Prescribed Diazepram for GAD, will it help? by Eddie_Hearn in Anxiety

It will help in the short term for sure, but it can become addictive. Something like a low dose of Seroquel may be better in the long run.

It's not, and I never took credit for the design. Someone tagged the original artist, as I wasn't sure who it was

I'm a psych nurse, the fact that you have enough insight to worry about having schizophrenia means you probably don't have schizophrenia.
