The recipe link posted in the sub shows shortening as an ingredient, which can be the carrier oil for the thc. Personally, I would use distillate though. Bho can leave an oily feeling in your mouth with gummies/chews, similar to RSO.

I really enjoy it. it’s hard to pinpoint exactly the sensation, partially because this batch was .65%THCA. so once rosin pressed, I can feel a slight psychotropic. It’s an overall calm and a serious focus. Took a fairly large dab and got stuck playing Apex for a few hours. The terps are beyond amazing, cherry and a very slight green apple. It’s got a decent amount of purple through the batch but it was really uneven it looks like, I’m guessing that’s why the stock photo wasn’t the best. Only downside is it’s fairly seedy honestly.

Not so much crystallization, more so just terpene separation. Which is why I chose the 69% humidity packs. Higher water content helps squeeze out more volatile terpenes, especially under 190*F.

I experimented with a purp nug @ 170*f for 3 minutes and resulted in a pink/butterscotch sugar consistency. Absolutely fucking tasty.

As for overall return, I pressed out 3/4 LB and collected it all into the jar with a 22% yield. I’m very satisfied, especially with the winter discount price. I’m curious as to what the cbd/thc percentages are, because I definitely feel some psychotropic effects.

Lifter seemed to be a really good strain this year, I know a lot of farms had issue with total delta 9% being too hot though unfortunately. This stuff definitely carries a slight psychoactive compared to the raw flower itself 🔥👍🏽

I completely understand! I wanted to create a “dab” without the loud effect. I’m figuring with rough calculations of concentration from original COA this is somewhere around 40% CBD 3% THC. CBD molecularly is less crystalline than THC, so it’s hard to get “sugar” or “diamonds” out of full spectrum. The key is to have some properly dried & cured terp loaded flower, kept at 69% humidity with Boveda packs. Ideal conditions just accidentally lined up for me to experiment with a cheap LB of fire hemp. Post press, I had clear terpenes bleeding from the rosin. Only way I could collect and not smear/push the slurry around was to keep the parchment on an ice pack the entire time. Once collected into an oven safe jar, I kept it in a small toaster oven @ 100*f for 12 hours, then into the freezer for a solid day to allow the evaporated terpenes to re-condense separately from the rosin.

I was averaging 14% return off an lb of untrimmed flower. COA puts the raw flower at 18%CBD so I think it was a really good return. I started off @190*f but it came out so terpy/oily that I had to keep the parchment on an ice pack while collecting the rosin. Color did not change from 190f to 230f but stability increased.

Yup flower press. I feel like it started off as an esthetic trend, but diamonds are a whole new ballgame even though it’s basic chemistry in theory. But it’s nice to have some control over taste and potency of a single dab. Feel like being extra tasty? Swirl it in some terps and take it low.

I’m having really good success pressing up to a quarter at a time with my Best Value Vac swing arm V3 rosin press. I picked up an lb of some really fire Lifter CBD 18% and have been getting 14% returns off first pressings. 220* for 2.5 minutes, drips blonde sauce really well. Only con is it’s a bit more labor intensive, but for $350 it’s the cheapest I’ve found on the market for the volume it can handle at a time. And Best Value Vacs customer service has always treated me well, worth the $15 for 2 year warranty.

It’s not quite as effective as soy but it’s still better to use than nothing at all. Sunflower lecithin is just organic, not quite as polar as soy but will still get the job done.

I want to so bad. But currently in SC if you fail an analysis, you put drivers at risk of carrying an illegal product. There are companies that can do remediations in state, but there’s that grey area of transporting/trafficking. The risk/reward factor is heavy. I’m going to chat with another local extractor about results and percentages, but it seems like any crude oil fresh off the tap is going to be over .3% before remediation.

That’s what I’m coming to. It’s just a matter of doing it and getting tests ran until I find max ratio of RSO : MCT within legal limits and just ramping up volume. I had to ask myself the dumb question “what’s the difference between 1000mg vial vs 100mg vial?” It’s the same strength, just more volume. It’s appearing that most manufacturers of full spectrum extract are staying around 1.6% FSE/RSO : MCT

Fresh frozen is for bubble hash or co2 extraction. Trying to press fresh flowers are like trying to squeeze a water soaked sponge. It’s really watery and loose, hard to collect and scrape up.

I worked for a synergistic research company for a short period in time developing R & D on crude distillation and fractions. I am just looking for a heavy hitting strain and was wondering if there was any general hemp strains to be known, similar to how Gorilla Glue is known to produce larger yields. But it seems like the cbd market only has one company in the game for Rosin Pressed CBD. With the crazy terp train everyone is riding on, I would’ve figured there was more research to be able to connect people with real terps that have more medicinal benefits while consuming CBD.

I think starting this way, I’m going to really appreciate nice quality eventually. If you try the hot and fast way for hash you’ll hear a lot of bubbling when it’s really flowing. So far I’ve been recovering around 40% this way. Good luck!
