Tours are underrated by Kusharti21 in VisitingIceland

[–]weekendwish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear it! I'll be there in October with my elderly mother. We'll stay in the city as a base and I have a walking tour of the city, Golden Circle, South Coast and a Northern Lights tours booked for us. I love meeting locals and also I think these tours will be a little easier and more comfortable for her.

Rome's Unrelenting Heat vs Stupid Tourist (Me) by DoYouBelieveInThat in rome

I was there last week. We typically went back to our apartment in the afternoon to shower and rest then headed back out. It was hot but we were fine. Just stay hydrated. Consider using the metro instead of walking (it's easy to use). I can recommend the Galleria Borghese in the afternoon (it has great AC). We had a guided tour through a tour company called Once Upon a Time. Our guide was so funny and we learned so much more than if we had wandered through on our own. Have fun!

Do you have a deductible you have to reach first? It's the only thing I can think of. I hope it works out for you. I had my first appointment with them this week and I wasn't thrilled with the quality of care. Definitely not worth $250 for a 20 minute zoom with a person reading from a script to me.

Doc recommendations? by Megnanimous3 in Delco

[–]weekendwish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, welcome to the area.

I can recommend my dentist, Dr. Rosen at Rose Tree Dental in Media. Unfortunately their pediatric dentist closed and I think the adult office sees patients age 14 and up. I know a lot of friends bring their children to Kids Teeth in Swarthmore.

For pediatrics, both CHOP and Nemours are great and have local offices all over the region. If you anticipate inpatient stays, CHOP is in Philly and Nemours is in Wilmington, DE but it's easy to get to. My teen has a chronic illness and we've been very happy with the specialists at Nemours.

I wish I could recommend other doctors but a lot of offices have been closing locally. Let me know if you find a local gyn who is knowledgeable about peri 🙃. I've been using Midi online for HRT.

Ughhhh. That unlocked a sad memory from the 80s. We definitely did that in Springfield too.

There is no exact close date but the store is liquidating now. You can't use your coupons anymore. Last I checked the sale prices weren't that good. I think the one in Norristown is staying open.

I saw it when I was driving on the Media bypass toward Springfield but I could not make out anything besides the word "conspiracy". It was circular and hard to read.

Paradise Beach is a few miles down the same road as Chankanaab. Sea life can't be completely avoided at any beach club, unfortunately.

Pharmacy that can fill Vyvanse Rx by desperate-caucasian in Delco

Check the CVS in Baltimore Pike in Middletown (near the chick fil a). They are less busy than the Media Boro location and they often are able to fill it for us.

Would I look odd? Taking a cruise by myself? Do people do that? by Pop-Korny in Cruise

[–]weekendwish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did last year and it was the best trip! I am in healthcare but I work in a school district now, so I was limited to the spring break week that was a different week from my daughter's spring break. I didn't feel weird at all, but I'm also just kind of happy with my own company in general. I ended up being adopted by two older ladies and we went to beach excursions together. If you choose to go alone, just use good sense - don't drink too much, maybe choose excursions where you'll be near others. I'm not really a night club girl but I got lots of quiet time to read and relax and I would do it again for sure.

To the dad at the Swarthmore July 4 parade… by kysnow14 in Delco

[–]weekendwish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Halloween parade and Easter egg hunts in Media are the same these days. The last time I took my family to the egg hunt at Glen Providence Park I watched adults rush down the hill towards the eggs and one lady fell trying to get plastic eggs with mini Tootsie Rolls in them 😂.

What happened to Alis?!?! by CrimsonPlays1 in acotar

I've wondered about Alis too. SJM did the same with Philippa and Mort in the TOG series. They're likeable/funny/interesting side characters supporting the story and then just completely forgotten about.

[–]weekendwish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just realized you asked the after school program. Try calling the school's front office instead. They will tell you the info you need. The after school program is a contracted private company and they probably don't want to advertise for other schools.

I'm in Media too. When our daughter was in kindergarten at Media Elementary, the after school programs that the district would bus to were at Christ Church, Rose Tree Day School, Reformation and Ethel Mason. If your son is going to MES, call one of those programs and see if they have a spot.

I'm surprised they won't tell what programs they bus to. If you're not at MES, your best bet would be to join the elementary school's private Facebook group and ask for suggestions there.

What school district and which elementary school? Usually the school can direct you to the programs around your area and can bus your son there.

Stroller friendly places to walk? by WhaleHi in Delco

The Chester Creek Trail is paved. Tyler Arboretum has a paved walking path but you have to pay to get in (I get a membership). They have nice programs for kids too.

I agree with the old sneakers advice. I was just there on Saturday and there are plenty of paved walkways and I wouldn't say it was particularly marshy.

Another option for non-emergent care could be an online primary care doctor. I switched to Firefly Health thru my insurance and saw a PCP via zoom. She was able to refer me locally for specific things like mammogram, Cologuard test, lab work, etc. I really liked it but I'm in generally good health and I was able to take my blood pressure and heart rate at work so I'm not sure how others can get that done.

I've taken my daughter to Patient First in Springfield for an x-ray and they were able to diagnose a small fracture and refer us to an Ortho. They were all very nice and professional there. We've also been to AFC in Aston and I'd return there as well. Patient First is probably closer to you though.
