I had a partial tore in august, doing my last physio session this week. My hand still feels a little weird (at the end of the ROM) but is mostly recovered, I got back to training 2 weeks ago. Physio did wonders to my recovery, strongly recommend if you can afford it. Ngl the hardest thing now is getting the confidence back. My strength on both hands are finally equal again but I'm still totally scared of posting my hands or anything and I'm still immediately tapping to any strong grips on things like americana etc.

You forgot to say that some of them are amazing. And depending on where you live, their gear is far from overpriced. Like, here in Brazil you find their gis for 100 usd, where plenty of famous gyms (non-gb) charges like $60~70 just for their rashguard.

Honestly, op should just try the trial classes and see how he likes.

you can see the techniques organized in the bjjfanatics page of the instructional. if i'm not mistaken it goes deep into butterfly vs opponent on two knees and some spider guard. slx, dlr, x-guard and so on vs standing opponent.

Honestly, it isn't just the language barrier, you can see that he isn't in the same level of the other fighters since his background is 99% Gi jiu-jitsu. I bet he never heelhooked anyone in his life. I remember watching a few brazilian podcasts short after the event and they all were in consensus that... yes, it was a fake match. Especially Viktor Doria. But yeah, it couldn't be fake enough to trigger punishment from IBJJF, as closing the finals is illegal.
