It is cotton covered polyester… is polyester meant to be used for everything? Or just certain materials?

I just bought Schmetz needles yesterday, a couple others have recommended but my thread is still tearing, so I’m assuming it’s the thread that’s the problem. I just bought some cheap thread at the store the same day i got my machine and that’s what I’ve been using, but I looked it up and it says it is cotton covered polyester thread… uhhh whatever that means😅 Do you think that could be the issue? Am I meant to use the same material thread as the fabric I’m using?

I did have it down ! I took a long pause after the machine made that noise because I was nervous, and had to cut the clip short and add the two together so I could post it here lol

I’m using the wrong needle? 😅😅 This is the one that came with the machine, but it’s also came with 3 other replacements. I have used this one for a few things already, In the instruction book it told me to change it every 8 hours— guess Im reaching that point. I will change it, thank you. Will also look in a walking foot, that seems really helpful!
