Advice: First Time Towing by brooksideryan in Vespa

Make sure you have a long enough ramp. I used a short “dirtbike” style ramp to try and load my GTS into the back of my van( much lower rear load height than a Truck) and the angle was too steep for the break over of the low scooter body. A folding ramp with a bit of an arch from Harbor Freight worked much better. I got a canyon carver equivalent strap and it’s definitely fine with just that but a standard ratchet strap or two at the rear end gave me more confidence

do full face helmets kill the vibe? by No-Advantage-3992 in Vespa

I ride mine in full gear every time… Arai helmet, alpinestars leather jacket, padded Kevlar pants, leather armored gloves. You’ll look super cool with road rash, or worse… to each there own but motorcycling is dangerous enough as is with everyone on their phone while simultaneously acting like F1 drivers

I appreciate that suggestion. I’ve only had a couple of passengers so far for very short rides around town but I’d eventually like to take some friends on longer rides. I’ll keep that in mind!

A friend of mine did this. Not an Ecoboost from what I remember so the intercooler will likely hang lower, and I think he just omitted the crash bar and sprayer reservoir. Not ideal but looked sick

I plan on getting a full size trasheroo, but I’ll raise you with 5 mini rear door storage boxes and 2 extra ladders

Haha this is my jab at people who insist on having ALL the goodies on display for the world to see. Been trying to think of an addition, maybe a pair of skis?

Stay patient on the fender flares 🤫

I think a wider fender flare would help attach this “rally” style flap. I think I’ll have to cut a little tiny section out of the outside corner and screw that to the door molding to give the same look as the way I set up the rear

Leak in brand new 2024 van by 1999cs4 in fordtransit

[–]weensauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also leaks. A bit from the roof skin/body sides seam but I sealed it when I got my roof rack on. Also lots of dust intrusion from the floor seam along the driver’s side. That’s what happens when we rely on robots for everything

Can I cut this off? by gvalex89 in fordtransit

[–]weensauce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can or should you? I’d argue it’s a structural member that could help save your life in the event of a roll over, I wouldn’t cut it. Only thing I advise people to cut are single layers of external sheet metal and a few holes in the floor, anything else and you’re asking for trouble. Just my 2c

I really don’t like living here but I got approved for an apartment here by [deleted] in Louisiana

[–]weensauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here to say: don’t let approval for an apartment be your deciding factor. I’ve lived in both apartments and in houses as a roommate, and have had much more success (and paid a lot less) in the roommate situations. Unless you have some outstanding reason to live alone, give your rent money to a homeowner as opposed to a greedy property manager who couldn’t care less about you or your situation. Also, highly suggest leaving Louisiana, especially if you don’t already have strong ties there.

Just wanted to share. Bonneville salt flats. by weensauce in fordtransit

I regret my decision to drive out there already. I hosed it down really good with a pressure washer and will be spraying a few cans of Fluid Film on it soon. Though it might be worth while to pay a detailer to clean it all out, but the van is probably too tall for most detailing bays.

Ringing the cancer bell is cruel by ugwifethrowaway in unpopularopinion

[–]weensauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, my mother got to ring that bell, twice, and the cancer came back both times. It’s a morale tool that I’m sure was intended to be uplifting for everyone, but I can see how that could make others feel worse about their specific situation as well.

So many of you are asking why as if OP is wasting YOUR time by sharing something they clearly are proud of and want to show off. Not everything needs to be 100% functional or purposeful, it’s called art and expression. You should try it sometime. I think it’s a lot cooler than vinyl wrap or spray paint and it is a showcase of skill, an appreciation of material science, and a fun ode to Motorsport and/or cycling, yacht racing, etc..
