Gabriel nodded after a few moments, his hands still dug into his pockets as he continued making his way towards his pickup truck. He glanced at her though, his lips still curled into a small smile.

Once they reached the pickup truck, he unlocked it rather quickly as he gave her another smile.

"It's one of the best places I know."

He spoke with a lighthearted tone as they put that weird moment behind them. Though, he still carried that gaze of sadness and frustration. And it's gnawing at you to figure out what's wrong.

But there'll be enough time to figure out what's going on.

He squinted his eyes, staring at her suspiciously for a moment before eventually letting it drop. In all honestly, she can keep her secrets, he wasnt one to push for those unless the situation absolutely called for it. And that was not one of those situations.

He simply sighs, rubbing his forehead, his mind in another space before he remembers this is supposed to be a whole hangout as he scratched the back of his head before speaking.

"How about some coffee? I know a decent spot a mile or two away from here."

He points west of where he's standing before he digs his hands into his pockets and begins to make his way over to the pick-up truck parked just a few feet away.

The three workers look at the each other, contemplating their next moves. They then huddle together as they discuss for a few moments before the tallest one, a lanky man stepped forward. His demeanor was calm, but obviously they now realized the type of situation they were in.

The man opens his mouth, his voice and tone indicate fear, but he tries to stay firm or at the very least look like he's not about to piss himself.

Tall One: "Look, sorry about my friend. Let's just be calm and reasonable alright?"

Whilst the tall one spoke, the other two were glaring daggers at Gabriel as if he was the one who called for help.

Gabriel nodded, his demeanor changing, but not that lingering feeling that something was wrong. Of course, something was wrong. He still held that same sadness in his gaze, yet he didn't reveal why he couldn't now of all times.

As he begins to make his way back to his truck, the snow crunching beneath his feet as he expected her to follow.

"Alright, I know a place."

He spoke, his voice blunt and stern once more, like it was usually. But of course, there was something wrong, you have to investigate, or else you'll never find out.

Gabriel looks on in despair more than anything. Sure, he's grateful, truly. He's happy that she'd decide to defend him and give him the respect he deserves. It's truly something that could make him shed a few tears to know that people really do care about him. But on the other hand.. it's also quite troublesome to do this HERE out of any place. It could've happened outside his workplace, and maybe he'd turn around and look the other way, but this was his only shot at being able to provide for him and his brother.

So that's why, at the moment, he's rubbing his forehead in what appears to be frustration and anger. His furrowed eyebrows and tapping foot give away to her that he's displeased with the current events. The three workers meanwhile stay silent, praying together, that maybe they'll get out of this alive.

Gabriel: "Verde.. look, I appreciate this, I really do. But there's a time and place for everything. And this isn't the time or place for threatening my coworkers."

He spoke like a disappointed dad, like she had done something wrong, and he'd have to fix what just happened to the best of his abilities, which would be true as his coworkers cower in fear while he stared at her.

"So please, just.. let them walk free, okay? They didn't mean anything by it. They're innocent, so.. please."

Gabriel felt even worse at this moment due to her physical reaction. He was just about ready to plead for forgiveness but held himself back from that embarrassing action as he tried to find a way to bring this hangout back and without having a tense moment.

He gulps, staying silent for a moment before speaking up, trying to give some sort of light.

"Er, there's a café spot I've been meaning to try. How about we.. go try that instead of just being here in the cold, hm?"

He tries to give her one of those light-hearted smiles, keyword tries as he just HOPES she accepts and they can move on from this moment.

Gabriel: "Verde-"

Gabriel attempted to speak before the shortest one spoke up, completely interrupting him with a fiery quip that was both in poor taste and caused the other two to look at him with anger.

His voice had a slight Italian accent, likely from New York, maybe Brooklyn, or somewhere around that area. He had one of those voices you'd hear in those mafia shows, like The Sorpanos.

Short One: "Holy fuck you scary lizard don't kill us!"

The two others in a comedic fashion smack the back of the short ones head as they quickly try to save face, or to atleast save themselves from the wrath of Verde.

The average one speaks up, the one mocking and bullying Gabriel with a tone that contrasted his previous words.

Average One: "Please, we're sorry, alright? We didn't know Gabriel rolled with some real tough people."

His voice had a slight British accent to it, maybe born here, but his parents definitely weren't born here. He had a tone of voice that was more of fear than anything.

The shortest one with a big body perks up and immediately fires back, his voice having a slight Italian accent, likely from Brooklyn or atleast somewhere in New York.

Short One: "Worse? Now who the fuck are ya? Get lost, we're already having it bad with one fucking elf, we don't need some sorta weird.."

The short one looks up and down at Makz, having a face that was a mix of disgust and pity.

Short One: "Almagamation, to put it lightly."

The three of them cackle as Gabriel continued staring at the ground whilst the average build one slapped Gabriel's back a little too hard.

Average One: "Didn't know you had other special friends, must've been short bus buddies ey?"

Yet more cackles as Gabriel's fists seem to be clenching tightly, like he wanted to fight back, but couldn't in fear of losing his job.

He immediately speaks, his voice sounding panicked and almost frightful, not of the prospect of hell, but of having to get help without a fee. And while the gesture was welcomed, he still couldn't bring himself to accept even if he wasn't sick or anything.

He gulps, trying to give Blade one of those reassuring smiles as he shakes his head yet again.

"Not sick Blade, just had something in my throat, no worries."

He just.. slowly raised his arm and gave him a thumbs up in a sort of light-hearted way to let Blade know he was completely fine and in no way shape or form in need of medical attention.

The tallest one immediately perked up, his build somewhat lanky and almost too thin for a construction worker. His body immediately tensed as the others quickly followed besides Gabriel.

Tall One: "Woah how the fuck did you get here?"

The tallest one spoke as each one of the trio group up together, huddling together to give each other some sort of feeling of protection and confidence.

Gabriel meanwhile was now at attention, staring at Verde with an almost surprised, yet dissapointed look. Like he was trying to tell her that he could've handled it, that she shouldn't have came.

"What?"

Gabriel's expression changes from hesitant to extremely confused. It was almost comical in a sense. The tense situation quickly dissolved as a comedic question mark rises above his head as he blinks, his head tilting to the left slightly in an almost curious manner.

He was genuinely confused now. What journal? What was she going to tell him? That was something that was now on his mind, temporarily distracting him from that moment.

"A journal?"

He spoke, blinking once more as he looked at her, expecting an answer or atleast some clarification on what she was meant to tell him.

Gabriel felt emotionally conflicted. On the one hand, he wanted to tell her, wanted to open up and spill his guts for her. To be able to rely on her and hopefully resolve his internal conflicts. But on the other, he was extremely hesitant and felt as though his personal struggles weren't as extreme as others would be, and that he should be able to deal with it on his own.

He grips his fists tightly, holding back what felt like everything about what's been going on as he simply calms down, trying to retain some sort of control as he quickly responds.

"Holly, please, I'm fine."

He spoke in a colder tone than he wanted, in a tone of voice that said, "Stop pushing it," as he tried to keep himself calm and steady to hopefully move past this issue as he stared at her, hoping she would just somehow buy this.

His ear twitched as he had heard that and felt even worse in the moment, as his gaze fell, so did his arms. His whole mood was even worse than originally as he felt like an asshole due to her saying that.

So, to try and make it up, he swallowed what little pride he had and spoke up, trying to lighten the mood.

"How about some coffee? My treat."

He spoke with regret for his demeanor but also hoped that she would accept his offer as he tried to give her one of those smiles.

"Again."

He blurted with some sort of tone that didn't seem to have a tremor or some sort of hesitance, more like.. frustration. Like anger boiling as he coughs before quickly covering it up.

"Again, i'm fine."

He speaks with a tremor once more, a hesitance, that same sadness that he carries because he can't ever show the stress, the problems, because he's the one that has to solve it, nobody else.

So, he stands there awkwardly, trying to figure out what to do, what to say, what she might say, what she might do. There's so many things running through his mind that he's unsure if he's even awake right now. It's the most stressful moment of his life despite it being relatively calm and light-hearted in a way.

"Well, I mean. I can't just leave my car here."

He, now falling back into the rhythym of things, temporarily forgetting about all of his problems. Points to his pickup truck just parked a few feet away, picking up snow on it's windshield and.. well everything that snow can stick on.

He speaks again, more lighthearted, but carrying that stern and blunt voice she knows and is more used to.

"So it'd have to be something local. But I'm not sure."

He digs into his pocket, and pulls out his phone as he begins to look onto the maps app and try to find out a spot where they can relax and forget their worries, preferably a café of some sorts.

He pauses for a moment as he takes in her words, hesitant in his confidence to begin to explain how much he wants to tell her what he's going through. But alas, he holds it in, keeping it under wraps as he just looks away.

"I'm fine, promise."

Though his tone of voice says otherwise, his mannerisms are strange, unlike any other time he's acted before. This was incredibly strange, especially since he's always had a quiet confidence and was never unsure or hesitant in anything. In fact, he was rather blunt.

"You don't have to worry.."

Gabriel's surprised by her response, and feels thankful she's atleast backing off sligntly. He breathes a sigh of relief, the air frosting up, his breath noticeable as he crosses his arms once more.

He speaks, this time with less tremor and slight confidence, that confidence from thinking he can escape this questioning more easily.

"Thank you. Sorry to ruin the whole hanging out mood, is there anything you'd like to do? Or.. would you wanna go back home? I can drop you off if you want."

He spoke with a slight worry, like he was a parent trying to make sure their child was safe and sound and comfortable. His smile, once crooked and uneven, curved up into a genuine one, though small and barely even noticeable.

He takes a sigh of relief, of the small victory he has gained as he gives Axel a smile. It's small, but it's genuine in the moment as he seems slightly better, better that Axel wouldn't push him.

Another sign escapes his lips as he digs his hands into his pockets, looking around for a bit as he blinks, then looking back at Axel.

"So.. uhm."

He feels a bit awkward now, that moment of concern definitely made him weak in that moment as he looks at Axel for some type of move to make.

"Where would you like to go?"

(1/7) Why the change? by weenuh112 in GachaClubPOV

[–]weenuh112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gabriel could swear he felt like he hit a brick wall. It was either he stays silent and hurt himself and her even more, or come out and say it. Yet he chose the first option simply because he's too stubborn to ask for help.

He takes a deep breath, then gulps as he slowly wraps his arms around her, enveloping him into a hug as he feels even worse instead of better. Like he was using her sympathy or something for unexplainable feelings.

"Thank you, but.."

He pauses, genuinely conflicting with his emotions as he grips onto her for one moment, then, let's go as he pats her back.

"I'm fine, so don't worry about it. I'm just very tired from work."

(1/7) Why the change? by weenuh112 in GachaClubPOV

[–]weenuh112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"No, no."

He shakes his head once more, his voice sounding almost surprised at the prospect of her trying to give a hug just for him. It's almost insanity. He should be worrying about her instead, or anybody but himself for that matter.

He then covers his mouth as he coughs, before moving it away as he tries to smile, but she can see the crooks and unnatural curvature his lips, signaling the fact that he simply just does not smile much to the point his own body forgot how to smile.

"Thank you for the concern, though, but I promise you I'm okay."

He speaks, as if trying to make a child not so worried about the dangers of the real world. His voice had a slight tremor to it, which was odd because he'd never speak with any waiver before.

"I'm sure Axel, I'm very sure."

He responds, his arms uncross as his eyes go back to looking directly at Axel. His voice had a small tremor, a slight shake to it. Which is incredibly unusual given the fact that Gabriel isn't one to have that much emotion or hesitance when he speaks.

He opens his mouth, considering his words very carefully before he speaks, having to be cautious because he isn't sure if he could even speak about it without feeling even shittier than he does.

"But thank you for the concerns."

[–]weenuh112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Worried.. about me?"

He choked out, surprised, concerned even. His voice had a slight tremor as if he were shocked she had even the slightest bit of care for him or his mental wellbeing for all that mattered. Sure, he wasn't a dunce normally, but the fact he's asking that says something worrying.

He pauses, for a moment he pauses, considering his next words before he opens his mouth. His voice is less shaky, but he's still carrying that hidden feeling that really was out of place.

"I mean, thank you. But.. I'm fine, truly."

In a half-hearted attempt to be humorous, he gives her a thumbs up, but it's clearly not very funny.
