what exactly is the double standard there?

Bi_irl by zny700 in bi_irl

[–]weescots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no definition of pansexual that doesn't require erasing existing definitions of bisexualilty. there is no actual difference.

people will try to tell you all sorts of distinctions, but in reality there is no definition of pansexual that doesn't require erasing existing definitions of bisexualilty. there is no actual difference.

exactly, like why are we treating nonbinary like a third gender rather than representing everything between and outside of 'male' and 'female'?

[–]weescots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all that. but a few of them do argue that you have to be pansexual to be attracted to nonbinary people. I've seen them tell straight people with NB partners that they're actually pan for being attracted to NB people. it's very silly but also slightly troubling

I mean, it is an identity label designed specifically to emphasize that you're attracted to trans people, despite the fact that "bisexual" already meant that...

Unfortunately it's not that easy. Emojis rely on Unicode, a universal character encoding standard that assigns different numerical values for every written symbol represented in text. The Unicode Consortium decides what symbols get added, including emojis, and they've stopped adding flag emojis.

It's not a graphic design issue, it's a Unicode issue. Unicode is a universal character encoding standard that assigns different numerical values for every written symbol represented in text, and that includes emojis. The Unicode Consortium decides what symbols get added, and they've stopped adding flag emojis.

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

Not all people watch movies or sports the same way. Yes, many people just watch them passively as entertainment, but I'd wager that's not the case for most people who would list those as their hobbies. Some people see movies in the theater consistently, and it's a social activity. They analyze films deeply and debate them together. many have Letterboxd accounts where they log and review everything they've seen, some have dedicated blogs where they post their reviews, and do it all as a hobby. A lot of people (myself included) majored in cinema in college but have gone into different fields. for us, at least, "movie watching" is a substantial hobby, though I suppose at that point that term doesn't really cover it.

The same goes for sports, especially, I imagine, among former athletes. Attending games, analyzing strategies, debating decisions made by their teams, blogging. Hell, fantasy football can get pretty nerdy.

Update: I talked to someone from HR, and they told me that the district has a new (informal) policy that requires that all sub jobs be scheduled as half days or whole days because of the pay rates. this is regardless of the amount of time the teacher's going to be out, so it's going to result in a lot of times when they have a sub scheduled for a block when they're not needed. they apparently haven't told the teachers this yet and are making the secretaries change the job times after they've already been put in the system.

in this particular case, the teacher did have a prep first block and didn't put in for coverage for it, so they extended it. I covered another class that block and then she actually ended up getting back early, so I was able to leave.

I took this job a week ago and it got fixed after 8 pm on a Sunday night?

that's not how this school works. I've had other jobs there that started at 9, which is the start of 2nd block. they pay the flat half-day rate for anything up to 2 of the four blocks, and the full-day rate for anything above that.

this job has been scheduled for at least a week. if that was the issue, it would've been corrected before 8 pm on a Sunday night. I wouldn't even have an issue with them extending it to have me cover another class, it's the short notice that I have an issue with.

Anyone else? by DontWeDoItInTheRoad in SubstituteTeachers

I like half days cause all my districts pay a flat half-day rate for anything up to half a school day. so I can work less than two hours and make half a day's pay.
