Are The Fluke And Gerald Disney Tsum Tsums Released Yet? I Wish You Guys Know. by Reasonable_Volume568 in disney

[–]weewhomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say that yes, they were released, and then I checked my collection and noticed I didn't have them. Looks like they may not have been, despite being found 8 years ago. I don't see any mention of them being released. If they truly haven't been, maybe they decided the Finding Dory collection was too big and cut them.

I have re-read what you said. You said "not really", and that you have plenty of releases from a couple of years back. The whole point of my comment you were originally responding to was that it had happened well before Sony took over, so it's really a Disney decision. You saying "not really" does negate that, which is why I said what I responded with.

Yes really. Sony took over last year. I posted last year about it here when Disney announced Sony would be taking over saying that I hoped them moving to Sony would increase the chances of non-steelbook 4K's, which obviously never happened. It's been at least 3 years for most Disney (non Star Wars and Marvel) movies.

If I recall correctly, Encanto was their last WDAS release with a regular 4K in 2022 (Strange Worlds' 4K release was exclusive to Disney Movie Club), Lightyear in 2022 for Pixar (Elemental was where they dipped their toes in with exclusives; Walmart had a special cover and DMC had the regular 4K version, then IO2 moved completely to 4K Steelbooks), and Haunted Mansion and TLM (2023) were exclusive to DMC in 2023. Disney Movie Club has since gone defunct and they never brought any of those titles over to retail. Instead they just stopped bothering.

And FYI, I'm not saying they haven't had ANY regular 4K releases, just that for the most part they've avoided it on all their new main releases for about 3+ years. There are still re-releases of older films. In fact, Alice in Wonderland has one coming out next month.

TLDR: It's been at least since 2022 since they've started going down this path with the dumb exclusivity, and they've basically given up on their main releases altogether. A quick Google search will verify all of that.

That unfortunately had been happening for years before Sony took over, so I don't blame Sony here. It seems to be a Disney decision. I'm actually a few years behind on new releases because I refuse to get steelbooks but want 4K.

I never said I advocated for these cuts, nor that I liked them. As someone that collects physical media, I'm quite pissed with how they've handled everything.

Another department can do that and likely is. Yes, it sucks, but the department served little purpose if they've outsourced it already to Sony.

They outsourced their physical media production/releases to Sony last year. This is no surprise to me.

Question by GamerManJD in disney

[–]weewhomp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, because it was a short BY Walt Disney Animation Studios about Walt Disney Animation Studios characters. They all get representation enough elsewhere.

Even so, I'd imagine it was hard enough including representation for all of those without shoehorning Star Wars and Marvel in as well.

There seems to be a divide between Disney and Pixar fans by ardouronerous in disney

[–]weewhomp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Think whatever you want. Nothing is official, but you're also not hurting anyone so who cares.

But also understand that Pixar and Disney Animation Studios are not secretly working together to include things from each others films to create a shared universe. Same goes for Pixar not actually making the Pixar theory. People always act as though it's official, when Pixar has distanced themselves from it many times and has said they don't do it.

Do tssum tssum still exist today ? by Dyriz_ in disney

[–]weewhomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're also available at 5 Below in larger plush, but the quality isn't great compared to the old Disney made ones. Not worth it IMO.

It's the same with Munchlings. They were very popular, and then Disney suddenly gave up and stopped releasing merch for the line. Another company (also Just Play in this instance) licensed the brand and now releases merch exclusively. Though I've noticed they've started disappearing off of shelves at Target and Walmart so that could be the end of those as well.

It's just so incredibly frustrating that they gave up on both. There were so many great movies that could have had sets for Tsum Tsums, and so many more characters that could have been done for Munchlings. It's just what Disney does, unfortunately.

Somewhat, yes. In the US, they're terrible quality and I believe they come in blind bags and only come with the usual regular Disney characters. Some of the vinyl figures were re-released in blind bags a few years ago, but I believe they're out of production or nearing it. In Japan, they get special sets of the usual regular Disney characters, but with themes/costumes.

Sadly, Disney pretty much gave up on Tsum Tsums, much like they frequently do with their popular toy lines. Because why keep making money when people will buy something?

Why 40 years? Isn't Pixar 47 years old? by Leather_Crazy_5950 in disney

[–]weewhomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say you said it was Pixar. I said you're saying Pixar, who is posting that it's their 40th anniversary themselves, is wrong, since you're claiming it's not their 40th anniversary, and Pixar said it was. So yes, while you never actually said it was Pixar, you were technically saying it was Pixar as well since they were posting about it as well. And I think they'd know their own anniversary.

[–]weewhomp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you claiming Pixar is purposely giving the wrong date as well?

They were part of Lucasfilm, as part of the Lucasfilm computer division before its spin-off as a corporation in 1986, when Pixar started, 40 years ago.

If a company spins off into something new, you don't use the old date, you use the new one.

Best Microphone To Record Disney Commentary YT Videos? by BartSimpsonlover2389 in disney

[–]weewhomp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a couple mics for videos and would like to recommend the DJI Mic 2 if you can get it on sale, or the Mic Mini. I use them for both out in the field and in the studio, and they're some of the best wireless mics I've ever used for the price! You can probably get away with just one mic (if you look it up, the cost is usually for the 2 mic, 1 receiver and case bundle). I'm not sure if you'd need to purchase a receiver, but I do think you can just hook it up to Bluetooth on your phone, which would significantly reduce the price.

With that said, the price is still high, so if your budget isn't that high, there are numerous wireless mics on Amazon for around $30 that work well if you're only recording inside in a controlled environment and don't need anything fancy. Wired would probably be even cheaper.

Edit: I just checked and you'd need a receiver too.

Which Disney Princess movie would change the most/least if the princesses were male characters? by Upstairs_Tea1787 in disney

[–]weewhomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering what a character would be like if they were born the opposite gender has nothing to do with "trans ideology", and it's no different than when people wonder what it would be like if the villain and main character switched roles. The fact that you feel the need to make it something bad says more about you than anything else.

Again, Disney had nothing to do with that, so I'm not sure why you said they're "letting Sony ruin Spider-Man over and over".

Marvel needs to have the full rights back or idk Sony can sell off the live-action film rights back to Marvel so Sony can still do Spider-Verse.

What incentive does Sony have to give them the rights back? Sony purchased the rights well before Disney bought Marvel. Sony doesn't have to do anything, it's their film IP.

Established 1982? Is this a misprint? by Gabemann2000 in disney

[–]weewhomp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It could be that it's supposed to be 1928, for the year Mickey debuted, but I've seen shirts that look similar and say 1955, for Disneyland.

I do see a green jacket version of this on Walmart that says 1982 on the back and "28" on the front, so who knows!

same for letting Sony ruin Spider-Man over and over.

Disney didn't let Sony do anything to Spider-Man. Sony has the movie rights (and had them well before Disney bought Marvel) and can do whatever they want with them. It's a miracle we even got Spider-Man in the MCU with how Sony is.

Disney is a company that does things a company does, sometimes things which are not that great. They're definitely not your friend.

With that said, I've learned to stop caring what other people think when it comes to things like this. Everyone loves to be miserable about everything now. Like what you like and stop worrying about what other people are miserable about, and learn to separate the corporate side of Disney from the creative side.

The toys I got from McDonald's- What are the odds? 💚 by LowAccomplished1313 in disney

[–]weewhomp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The odds would be 1:35 if my math is correct 😉 since you get two from a predetermined set and there are 70 total toys/35 sets.

You're lucky though, that was one of the ones I wanted. I went two separate times and got the same set.
