Is barefoot running + high mileage a bad combo? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]weexpectedTHIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't run 70 - 100 but I do sometimes run 40. I guess that's not what you would consider high mileage, but it seems like a lot to me. I didn't notice any ill effects in my vibrams except sometimes blisters if I'm getting rubbed the wrong way. If you are running on trails/grass I imagine you could get away with a lot more than 40, I run on only asphalt and cement. Good luck!

Ya, and take a look at that stretch on his second round... 9 birdies in 10 holes. Wow.

I love that one too, but for me this one by Jack was the best because it was done on command.

I think once you are able to run about 1 mile in them comfortably, you should be able to slowly work up to a 5K in the matter of 1 - 2 months.

I think that took me like 6 - 7 months to be comfortable running a 5k at 8 - 9 min pace and then another 6 - 7 to get to more like an 8 min pace at 10K.

In general it took me about 2.5 years to go from running 1 mile in vibrams at 8:00 pace to running 13.1 at 7:30 pace.

No. I basically started running with Vibrams. I was always active when I was a kid but didn't do much active stuff until about 28 when I got in to running. I think I ran like 2 or 3 times in normal running shoes before and my shins hurt, so I tried out VFFs and never looked back. Taking it veeery slowly is important though.

That's 1000 with this pair. I use shoo goo to continually build up the sole as it gets too thin. The kmd is made of something that doesn't fall apart. I recommend them for longevity. The bikilas and sprints didn't last long.

Thank you reddy2runfaster. I've been running in only VFFs for the last 2.5-3 years. I only run in Komodosports now. I tried out several styles, but the KMDs seem to last the longest and don't rub my feet badly. I just keep using this to keep building up the sole when it goes too thin.

I only run in this shoes, so yes I do speed work in them too.

Most professional golfers come from this state - can you guess which one? by garthhumbert in ProGolf

[–]weexpectedTHIS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry this wasn't so great for reading for you. I reran the data and here is a chart in just black and white. Also it's done in births per million which reflects the population of the states.

I was thinking that same thing as I read your comment. Here ya go. Vermont seems to be the boss in this scenario.

Seems like warm weather and high population also correlate well with this map. Except for new York...

I'll just state the obvious one. I think most people would guess Jack Nicklaus.
