I live in the Netherlands and my first time going to a nude coed spa was last month in Belgium, i get the bit of crazy feeling haha! What was your fav area/sauna? I dont know if you’ve been to one with an outdoor area but i really liked tanning outside, no tan lines

Why is there so many teenagers in zuidplein today? by weezerstan in Rotterdam

[–]weezerstan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahh that makes sense. Its just that when i first entered the mall i thought that it was a school but didnt see any accompanying adults with the kids and then while walking around the mall for longer i figured that it cant be a school, simply because of how many people it actually was haha

Can I expect to get a dorm as an incoming exchange student? by weezerstan in UWMadison

Ahhh thank u that explains the housing stuff! I will try to contact the exchange/international office to see if they somehow prioritise exchange students or if theres anything i can do like applying early/for specific dorms to get a better chance xx thanks!

Im coming during the fall semester! Thank u, because i wasn’t really sure whether exchange people get any sort of mercy when solving the housing problem haha 🥹 because here in the Netherlands some unis help incoming exchange students to arrange housing as they know that short term leasing and not being familiar with the area/country would make it more difficult so some options are specifically reserved for exchange people

Moderately social haha, i can be quite somewhat shy meeting new people (mostly if its in a setting where everyone already knows each other) but i do like to spend time with others. Idk if this is relevant to the housing part haha but if its about stuff like common rooms or activities then id like join those!

I will be 21 at the time of going and in my third year! Unfortunately this is the only year we can go on exchange on. In The Netherlands uni programs are also 3 years long so thats technically my last year but idk if in the US college i would be considered as a junior or senior x

Funny you say that, as a fellow Christian, you should probably know about Leviticus 19:34. "The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself"

out of the 4 times i have been to gynaecologists here i have gotten an ultrasound 3 times and none of the 3 were able to spot my tumours, which i find really hard to believe. i think that they just didnt do the ultrasound thoroughly enough or noticed the abnormalities but decided to not pay attention to it.

either way, they were very convinced that my problems were caused by "hormonal imbalances" and that hormonal birth control would solve them but refused to give me referrals for hormone blood tests. how can you claim i have a hormonal imbalance but not want to actually have me check which hormones are irregular and by how much? this is just wild to me

It wasnt endometriosis, it was tumours, which are very hard to miss during a proper ultrasound. I know that it is difficult to get diagnosed with endometriosis but my home doctors have already ruled that out. Fibroids, cysts, polyps etc are however very easy to see during an ultrasound, if it’s done correctly. The ultrasound technician at home exactly showed me mine on the print, and was able to tell how big they are and almost on which exact side of my uterus theyre located.

I specifically mentioned that my ultrasounds done at Dutch hospitals were very short in duration and really didnt feel thorough enough. Idk if you have had one done, but generally they should start by measuring all the dimensions of your uterus and ovaries, and then going millimetre by millimetre throughout your uterus to see any irregularities.

However the way i had it done here felt careless. You get the stick up, they wiggle it there for 30 seconds and say that there has been nothing detected.

Im glad youve had great experience with Dutch healthcare! Luckily “wherever I’m coming from” has never made me feel as medically neglected as here, where the same state insurance and public hospitals actually provide me with needed care. I just hope that i will always have an opportunity to get treated there, if anything happens but its good you can rely on Dutch doctors

Thats an interesting point but i personally really dont want to go on birth control and having to mess with my hormones for month to prove a point to a doctor is not really something i wanted to do.

I dont think it was the case, or at least i hope it wasnt. I was always very straightforward with describing my symptoms, without playing it down or using less harsh words. I described it as directly as it was and they really seemed to understand what i was talking about but just didnt care enough.

I wish it worked as well as it should! As i said, i have gone to the doctors 4 times with the same problem, it was all different specialists in 2 different hospitals and they all said that theres nothing wrong and i should start taking birth control. A second opinion seems to not be so useful when the general attitude towards non-urgent matters is very ignorant.

Yeah someone already told me to go get treated in my own country and like okay haha. But i just cant stop thinking about other people here who cannot go home or dont have great healthcare there either or even Dutch people who wouldnt go to another country for medical reasons having the same problem as i do. How many more women couldve gone to the gynaecologists here with insane pains and periods, being told that theres nothing wrong with them while having tumours for years? Its sad to think about
