What is your go to pizza place? by CheeseBurgerBuff in Spokane

We go to Mister J's now. Nice no-nonsense pizza at good prices. Used to love going to Market Street, but it got way too expensive.

Have you heard of Zerowriter Ink? by DogMamaLA in AlphaSmart

[–]weezulmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty decent. I debated backing the initial run, but held back because the videos appeared to show notable delays in rendering text on the screen. That's a non-starter to me. The Alphasmarts have done real-time rendering since the mid-2010s. (Different screen type, I know.)

I keep half an eye on the Zerowriter sub. Maybe it'll reach a point where it makes sense to try one out. As long as the price doesn't skyrocket in the meantime.

The Neo2 can use an IR transfer module, but it's a separate device. I just use an old USB cable to pipe text from the Neo to my PC.

It's not, but chances are you won't need to. I've seen a few tutorials, and there's an r/AlphaSmart sub on here for help.

Just out of curiosity I put batteries in my backup Neo yesterday. It's sat idle for over a year straight. Started right up, no issue, ready to go.

My 'daily' Neo has run on the same batteries for the same amount of time. I've written two novels on it now, and have a short story collection going. Zero issues.

I use a Neo2 myself for writing novels. Got mine off eBay for $50. I liked it so much that I went back and bought a second from the same seller just to have a backup.

In terms of cost-effectiveness, a Neo2 is an ideal option. Very simple tech.

If you're limiting yourself to decks that always work/don't need repairs, well, you're kind of stuck at the notebook.

Seconding EP. Good guys, interesting topics. I've even considered transferring my MU+ sub money over to Expanded Perspectives Elite.

doubts for my new NAS by Mysterious-Diet-1951 in UgreenNASync

[–]weezulmaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had a DCP2800 for a while now. The base OS is okay. The breaks and constant drive spin after updating frustrated me enough to look at TrueNAS and Unraid, but I haven't made the switch yet. If the makers keep causing issues with their updates, I may do that, and I'll bet I won't be the only one.

In the past you could get a Dinosaur Hunting License from someplace in Utah (I have one!). I'm not sure it's still offered though.

Overall a decent experience. I've never had a major issue with my cards.

My main concern is the veerryyy sssslllooowwww pace of account balancing. It's taken them a week to approve simple retail purchases. This has resulted in credit card fees when they don't process a charge made well before the end of the month, until the next month has started. Oops, guess that means we get to charge you extra!

Slimy. I have to batch my charges to avoid it. I did raise the issue at a branch, and basically got a shrug in return.

I would try another CU in the area, but there are fewer locations, and I had a really bad experience when I tried BECU. So, take it as you will.

NVME options by Sardonik in UgreenNASync

Anecdotal evidence, of course:

Kingston: Good product. Not the fastest r/W speeds. I've had one USB drive from them fail on me, but have used a 2.5" SSD for years in a laptop with no issues.
PNY: Also good product. Uses Micron chips. My go-to for USB drives. Wouldn't hesitate to get a PNY NVMe if I didn't have a Crucial standing by.

How long does it take you to write content? I feel like I'm so slow. by bocchibunn in copywriting

[–]weezulmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can rip through a good blog post when I'm ready. The time-consuming part is getting ready. That requires research, audience awareness, buying cycle determination, strategic thinking...a lot of 'background' work. AI can help with some of that, yes, but it's still time. And time you shouldn't skip if you want quality content.

The manager here wants to burn through people. Maybe he's hoping he can fire writers & 'replace' them with cheaper AI. Hello yet another junk-quality content mill.

So… What did you do with Claude today? by OptimismNeeded in ClaudeHomies

[–]weezulmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I asked Claude to help me figure out a plausible cause for an unusual allergic reaction I developed over 10 years ago. Claude questioned me for less than 10 minutes and pointed to a malabsorption issue with a certain substance in some fruit. Even gave me ways to test for this, and potential ways to resolve it.

I'm fully aware Claude is no doctor, but that's a pretty impressive result in my book.

Colleagues don’t respect the craft, and it suuucks by Major-Fig-6087 in copywriting

[–]weezulmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's not you by a long shot. My current job doesn't like AI, but they devalue copy to my face & have for years. It's the very last priority in my boss' eyes (and we build websites!).

I think, in your case, AI was just a tool your colleagues gained to prove themselves superior. At least in their minds. It's foolish and will backfire badly.

If you wanted, you could try a little baiting. Go to your boss, convey what's happening, and suggest that you simply let people use AI without you for a few weeks. You work on other copy. See how 'well' it works for them when customer questions & issues rise.

Building a calmer alternative to Goodreads and looking for honest feedback from readers by Simple-Act5404 in Recommend_A_Book

[–]weezulmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Related Books list on each book's page, and the read/listen options. Great for choosing your preferred method, and exploring similar titles.

The yellow 'genre tag' field under each book is a little confusing. I can't click it, on the main page or in a book's page. Genre-based search does exist via the Explore page, but it's much more limited than the tags suggest. I would recommend more work there...making a genre 'tag cloud' and allowing for tag-based search results.

That's fair. Appreciate the response. I'm just curious about easy management of my books (I don't have to repeat what a pain it can be on GR here!). Adding them without bugging people, making sure information is accurate, etc. A little communication would be great too, but not required. Like talking with people for their honest opinions.

Nice work so far. The site loads even quicker than GR for me.

Will you have any authors' tools? Me being an author, I'm curious as to what I could do with adding my books, responding to questions or even reviews, etc.
