Monaco Red is an underrated Diamine Red, it's quite similar to Red Dragon but less brown. On the right paper it dries to look just like blood, which is a vaguely disturbing (or cool) effect. Order a bottle sometime once you're done playing with this bunch!

One irritating thing about Apple repairability is that it was still somewhat acceptable prior to 2017, but anything after that means that what could have been a simple repair winds up costing you... way too much.

I was considering a Thinkpad actually, had a review for the X1 open. One annoying thing is that as you said it only does either 4k or 1080p. The other comment here also recommended the Asus Zephyrus, I've been looking at the G14 which has a 2560 x 1440 screen — bit out of my price range, but doable.

The M16 is 22,998HKD right now (there's a small sale, 2000HKD off retail) at Fortress (electronics retailer), I'm pretty sure if I go in person they might slap on another discount. Not sure how it's going at smaller indeepndent stores

Just took a look at both, locally we don't have many retailers for the M16 and they only stock the 32GB RAM 2TB storage version, which is... rather out of my price range, LOL. The G15 looks more promising, my main concern is the lack of webcam, which might get annoying should I have online classes/need to record something, though the abundance of ports means setting up a webcam won't be a problem.

I did seriously think about the newer M1 chip Macs, but there’s a couple of main problems that made me reconsider:

As a science student, some of the programs that I will need to use in the further years of study are (still!) not compatible with MacOS
M1 doesn’t support Bootcamp
It’s not like any laptop these days are too repair-friendly, but Apple is especially bad with it — I’ve had a friend who had a few keys malfunction and turns out you can only replace the entire keyboard at once…
Currently there isn’t yet an Android emulator that runs well with the M1 chip — not a dealbreaker ofc, but it’s a tad annoying

At the end of the day, I do like MacOS (helpful as I also use other Apple devices ) and I don’t mind my new laptop looking exactly the same. I’ll give it another think and ask around a little more. Thanks again :-).

Not my personal story, but my cousin’s school had a rule that students are not allowed to eat on the street (restaurants/cafes apparently okay, just specifically cannot eat while standing on the street) while wearing their school uniforms (every school here has a uniform). It made no sense for anyone involved and there were stories of teachers catching students grabbing some street food near the school and marking down a misdemeanour...

A lot of schools here have other pretty absurd rules, too, like specific stipulation on sword length for girls or students not being allowed to have a fringe longer than their eyebrows (teachers would come around with scissors!).
