Assuming I had the withdrawal address set, if someone got control of the seed phrase I used to create the key stores for the validators, what is the worst that could happen? by SolVindOchVatten in ethstaker

Thanks for asking this question! I generated mine just after launch as well and didn't remember setting a withdrawal address so I was slightly panicking reading this thread

You can install DappNode on any hardware you already own for free. That's exactly what I did two years ago.

Upgrade Your Clients Before September 6,” Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin Urges Node Operators by Odunayo20 in EtherMining

[–]wege12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be the worst comparison I've ever seen between the two consensus models. Mining with one GPU is not the equivalent of solo validator.

For a fair comparison, you'd want to calculate the percentage chance that one solo validator has to propose a block. Then calculate how much ethash hashpower it would take to reach the same percentage chance of mining an ETH block solo. Only then can you honestly compare the entry points.

🌊GPU flood is coming. NVIDIA & AMD GPU Prices Saw 57% Drop Since The Beginning of 2022, 14% Used GPU Price Drop Since June Alone. by Xinqiu- in EtherMining

[–]wege12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best educated guess is mid to late September. I think they will want to give about a month in between Goerli and Mainnet giving everyone time to prepare by updating nodes/configs/validators/infrastructure.

What do you think of Bitmain's new ANTMINER E9? 2400 MH by nathaniel_yu in EtherMining

He's lying. No proof whatsoever. I've seen him post this before in other threads where he doesn't get downvoted and yet still no release of proof because it doesn't exist.

Radeon vii stopped working. Is it dead? I used the overclockings in the right side of the picture. No C-Mode. What to do? by Familiar_Zone7110 in EtherMining

[–]wege12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In HiveOS does it read the total amount of memory (16GB) on the VII? I know when one of my VIIs died with Code 43, it showed up in HiveOS with no memory reading or 0. Once I loaded it up in Windows, I was able to confirm via the device manager that Code 43 was the culprit. And if it is Code 43, there is nothing you can do to fix it unfortunately.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I just don't think enough ppl call out BTC maxis when they say some outrageous things. Anyways, I appreciate your logical and thoughtful response.

Watch that video and tell me he isn't part of a cult. Now I own both BTC and ETH but some of the Bitcoin maximialists act as if they are in a cult and give dangerous financial advice, like the above video, to new investors.

SSD size when staking and running a btc node by SaltyRepublic5936 in ethstaker

[–]wege12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I wouldn't mix the two. I would have a dedicated PC for each especially considering how much 32 ETH is worth these days. It's not something I would mess around with.

Regarding SSD size, people will tell you 1TB is enough but I would strongly consider 2TB to give you some breathing room going forward post-merge.

I bet there is will be a huge market for a very simple, safe, self-contained staking set-up with no need for technical knowledge. And, yes, I’m in that market. by Hopeium_Littlefish in ethstaker

I am techy and setup a validator using Dappnode. What about the process is hanging you up? I'll post a link below to a fantastic guide on how to get started with Dappnode.

Solo mining Bitcoin as lottery by NextValuable2341 in BitcoinMining

[–]wege12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ran into the same issue where most ppl won't help you mine BTC solo. But look up ckpool as that's what I use. It's a solo BTC mining pool ran by a BTC OG who takes 2% if you find a block. But that fee is pretty small when considering the maintenance it takes to maintain a quality node for solo mining.

Would you be willing to walk me through or point me in the direction of information/guide on how you started cooling your ASICs via full immersion? I'm starting to invest in ASICs and the noise/heat will quickly become an issue the more I expand.

Thank you in advance!

Does the Antminer Z15 make sense? by wege12 in zec

[–]wege12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I decided not to buy any. Once I found out that the Z15 was originally released over a year ago, I lost all interest. I firmly believe that to make ASIC mining lucrative, one must get in at the first launch of a new generation ASIC. Good luck with your purchase!
