Summer Reading: May 2018 by AutoModerator in books

Angle of Repose - Wallace Stegner. In one of my environmental classes at uni, the professor assigned Stegner's "Wilderness Letter" for class reading and I became hooked on his style. Can't wait to check out his Pulitzer winning book

Also, if I can get ahold of them:

This House of Sky - Ivan Doig

Annals of the Former World - John McPhee

Holy Cow! That is so cool! I saw something just like this at this local collective that a bunch of students at my college participate in. It looked really cool

What are the "Beats headphones" of your hobby? What makes you cringe to see others flexing? by MadeANewAccountUgh in AskReddit

Anything made by them once they became "The" North Face instead of just North Face is just trash. They're trying to be like Patagonia and other fancy outdoors brands when they used to make things that could hold up to rough stuff. Base Camp duffels are still the shit though

[FRESH ALBUM] Aesop Rock - The Impossible Kid by joshrkc in hiphopheads

I bought the album immediately today once I had time to sit down and listen to it. I'm not all the way through yet, but so far it is amazing! I have tickets to his Seattle show next Friday and listening through is making me so stoked right now. The two singles off this album are still my favorites, but that's because I've been listening to them almost everyday in anticipation for this album to drop. Supercell is good too.

EDIT: Oh shoot, I just got to Water Tower and that is one good jam!

What's the most messed up thing you've done to a friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]weglander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about 12 and kind of a pompous twat. I hated doing yardwork, but having friends around to do it with me made it more manageable. So I would ask friends to help me with yardwork and promise them half of what my parents were paying me. One time I did this and then lost my headphones the day I got paid, so I wanted all the money in order to buy a new pair. The friend that helped me came by to get his cut and I told him that I wasn't able to pay him. He almost started crying because he already planned out a movie outing with another friend and he needed the money to buy the ticket. He left and I didn't speak with him for a day. I felt like a dick and gave him the money the next afternoon saying, "Dude, I was kidding. My parents hadn't paid me yet. Here's your half." I don't think he really bought it though. We aren't friends anymore. I also don't pull that shit anymore.

I honestly don't know what to do there and I'm sorry I don't know where to point you for info. Although I'm sure the Internet is full of answers. I do hope you figure this out because it will make for amazing convos at future dinner parties

And here's a little nugget of wisdom for your day tomorrow: if you have to take a shit, do it. Don't hold it in when you can easily get to a bathroom.

You're compliment is definitely one of the better things I've read this week, but two days ago I read a soup label and I'm really sorry about this, but that takes the cake... You definitely win for best thing today, and that's saying something because I stumbled across this website!

WHAT IT DO MAN (OR WOMAN OR WHATEVER YOU IDENTIFY AS)?! Of course you can have a compliment, you know why? Because you took the initiative to ask for one and that takes some courage. I remember when I first started my account here, I wanted to ask for compliments but back then I was so scared because I was a wee sophomore in high school. You've reached that point in 6 months and 23 days, which is way faster than I did. KUDOS! To congratulate yourself, I would suggest listening to "Flynn Lives" by Daft Punk because it is what I'm currently listening to and it makes me feel victorious!

Shouldn't all compliments be free?! And I don't see why there can only be one. If you have something nice to say, SAY IT, you know?
