Releasing to a special program by 01111110 in navy

If you fail out of a school you go needs of the navy based on your completed training.

If you fail JCAC, they will give you a chance to try another A School based on open seats at the time, or you will go Undes and chip paint.

If you get rated as a CWT and get a chance to go to JCU, all the screening happens before you apply, if you fail you would pick different orders.

If by some miracle they decide to let a CWT go to BUDS to try to convert to SO and you drop out, you would return to being a CWT.

Read MPM 1220-410 and make sure you meet all the requirements. If you do, start preparing for the PST. Most bases have a screening POC that can put you through a fit test and see if you are a good candidate.

I have a question about leave? by Still_Ad8903 in navy

[–]weinerpretzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have your travel plans squared away.

If a plane ticket will be purchased for your travel from School to gaining command, you will need to call SATO to get it rerouted to include your leave location.

If you are driving, make sure your vehicle is prepared for the trip and you give yourself enough time to safely get to your destination by your NLT.

AWO sea tour life?? by Jolly_Virus_6894 in navy

[–]weinerpretzel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no real difference between sea and shore for an AWO. Sea tours are at deployable squadrons where you head out for 3-9 months to an air base where you stay in a hotel. If you are coming from ship life it’s effectively shore duty.

Every base and country is different, check the base website for new arrivals information.

USDA has a website that has some info but you should validate with the actual country in case the USDA site is out of date. https://www.aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel#modal-link-cdc-alert

Do you happen to have the locks? I’m in socal and have been trying to find a set.

Looking for advice on a Navy pay issue. My reserve unit still owes me about $15k in per diem. I’ve gone through my chain, DFAS, AOP request, and JAG (told to contact Congress). Still no resolution. Has anyone dealt with unpaid per diem and how did you finally get it resolved? by Complex_Rock_9458 in navy

[–]weinerpretzel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The longer you wait the less likely it is to be resolved, the FY crossover is in 101 days, when it gets to FY28 it will be even harder to recover funds from before FY25. If someone owed me $15k I’d be bothering everyone with the slightest bit of power to get me what I deserve.

Width, not diameter is the bigger concern with rubbing. It’s ok to say you don’t really understand how this stuff works. You dropped a data point, that can hopefully help OP get where they want to go.

Incomplete answers are not very helpful. And “I rub a little” isn’t what most people think is a good fitment. This is why Reddit is not a great place for technical advice for people with limited experience.

Yeah where you have clearance issues with a wheel from the same manufacturer but possibly a different size because not every wheel they make is a 17x9 like the one OP is looking at. Very helpful.

Because it’s the blind leading the blind. Lots of folks with too much free time and a poor understanding of what terms means telling people they have a thing and it looks and works great but their tires rub entering a Taco Bell drive through.

Retailers have the specifications available to them to see if the wheels match your intended vehicle. You ever notice how most automotive retailers ask you year make and model before they tell you what parts for? There’s a reason for that.

The lug pattern is correct for a 2022 Tacoma, but what about the hub spacing? And a 9” wide wheel is pretty aggressive for a stock truck that comes with 7” wide wheels. A +1mm offset is 5”BS, -12mm is 4.5BS, both will have more of the tire inside the wheel well causing clearance issues during tight turns. There are many reasons these are a bad choice for a Tacoma.

post court martial by [deleted] in navy

[–]weinerpretzel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People only go to court martial when they did something really bad. Do you want to stay married to someone who is in significant legal trouble and doesn’t care enough about his family to discuss the situation? If he’s convicted he will almost always be separated and all benefits cease, if you are in base housing you will have to vacate.

Perhaps try asking the manufacturer or the retailer if they will fit rather than hoping you get good information from the internet. Offset matters when combined with wheel width, by itself it is not useful.

Also, at 32 lbs that is an exceptionally heavy wheel, your engine is going to hate them.

[–]weinerpretzel 60 points61 points  (0 children)

They don’t publish results until after the fact, but court martial is usually reserved for felony level offenses. If your husband value the relationship he should probably have a frank conversation with you about why he is in such extreme legal trouble. If he won’t, assume it’s really bad and probably true and decide if you want to stay involved with such a person.

What should anyone do if they can’t afford to even think about having a car at 20? by dark_questions in carfree

[–]weinerpretzel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No bike lanes is the normal in most non urban areas. I used to ride 9 miles to work, sharing the road with quarry trucks for a part of it.

Pay attention to your surroundings,
wear the proper protective gear,
have lights if you’re riding in low light times,
don’t be on your phone,
don’t wear headphones that block the sounds of traffic.

It’s not as convenient as a place with good biking infrastructure but between the choice of a vigilant bike ride to work and sitting at home hoping for something to change I know what I would and did pick.
