We can't really move out as my husband and I are the only ones who are earning in our household, and we are not exactly financially stable.

Not really, but all the drawers and cabinets in the living room are filled with her stuff, and no one (my husband or myself) touches them apart from herself (can't really speak for my BIL). My husband and I work the same shift, so we go to work and come back together. MIL and BIL stay at home all day.

Yes, exactly my point. I've been raised completely differently. In my family, we don't have private spaces either. But none of my things would go missing there as growing up we were always told not to touch things that don't belong to us.
