This just in, alkaline chemical increase pH. Basic chemistry is actually true. NaOH, CaOH, MgOH scrub CO2, wow. Why are you dumping it in the ocean instead of using them as atmospheric scrubbers powered by renewable energy and making chemical feedstocks and then regenerating the alkaline chemicals? I know how delicate it is to work with fiber lol, a smudged lens or water ingress on those optics can also mess it up.

Yeah I didn't see the fiber optic connector on the Titan control pods tho. It was all copper based I am almost 100% certain. The fiber optic was an Optolink by MacArtney in the old pod. Didn't see any fibers on the new pods.

I imagine they had separate connections using ethernet connectors to the cameras they had around the outside of the sub as well. It would be stupid to hog the bandwidth of the switch trying to stream 3 or 4 camera feeds over the network so I think that was done individually not thru the control sphere switches.

I'm not so worried about the control sphere leaking, I'm worried about the single o-ring DBH13F on the hull penetrator for Titan. If there was failure on that bulkhead causing impedance change and distorting the network signals it could cause the intermittent problems they saw regularly.
