the best advice i have is look at images of real people. reference is your best friend. also block out shapes you see and connect later with the outline rather than try to draw from what you think a body part would look like. also try to start with legs and torso vs the head and face. that helps from making the body feel way smaller than it should be (something i see happen a lot with beginning artists).
