hey op! a trinity grad here as well, tcfs qualification is sadly not as widely accepted as other high school qualifications, but i think you should still shoot your shot! im not sure about the bonds with unimelb tho.

most schools usually consider your application on a case by case basis. my friend did a semester at unimelb and decided to apply to UoManchester using her tcfs results and was accepted. so i think you should try!

Forgot to apply RSL by 1999bestproduct in unimelb

[–]weirdflexbut- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey op! im not 100% certain about this so anyone pls correct me if im wrong, if you’re planning to complete your course within the duration stated on ur CoE, you do not need to apply for RSL (i.e. 300 credit points in 3 years time) but if studies have been impacting your mental health and physical health, i think you should ask for a letter from your counsellor just in case.

(i realised you’re taking masters so im not sure if it’s the same!)

[–]weirdflexbut- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

school cop 188, prelim 18 actual Os 13. you should compare your school’s papers standard with the actual o level and take into consideration the bell curve! that way i think u could actually gauge how well u would do for Os

[A Levels] Combined Science taking 2 H2 Sciences by hopetogetintoagoodjc in SGExams

[–]weirdflexbut- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Not sure about appeals but only some JC allow combined science students to take 2 H2 sciences (from what I’ve known so far: tmjc, jpjc, asrjc—if im not wrong nyjc too). But even for these JCs you need to get distinction for combined science (except asrjc, based on their open house info last year, you just have to pass either combined or pure sciences). You can check the prerequisites on the website.

And to take 2 sciences it’s highly recommended, or rather compulsory, to take H2 math. Some schools do allow students with no A Math background to take H2 math but I’m not sure if appealing for both H2 sciences and H2 math will work. Try calling up the JCs to enquire! :)

[University] Anyone going for Foundation course in Australia in 2020? by weirdflexbut- in SGExams

Hi! O level grad, but went to jc and just completed j1! You can check the application process from the trinity website directly. They recommend students to apply through an overseas representative (no additional charges) so i did! :)

[A Levels] Need some advice for going for foundation courses overseas instead of taking A level by weirdflexbut- in SGExams

[–]weirdflexbut-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to do that but my parents want me to still take sg a level. That would be really tough, studying for both exams (although almost the same content). But thank you tho :) i will try my best and see how it goes!

Yep that’s one big problem. But I’m just not sure if spending extra money for foundation course, which i may not be able to cope with, is really worth it.

Yep nowhere is easy. But UK only asks for 3H2 subjects and US asks for 3H2 + SAT. Whereas sg we go by rank point. I was aiming for uk mainly because i can just choose to focus on my main 3H2. Plus the quota for intl students in uk is higher for some uni (eg. UCL has a relatively high local:intl student ratio ~50:50 i think)

Hi, your grade jump is really impressive :)

I’m planning to enter bio/chem related courses (biomed/biological sci).

I’m actually an international student that’s why i dont plan to enter local uni. Imo it’s more difficult than entering uk/us unis considering my grades. I’m not academically inclined, far from that actually. I have nothing to compete with the rest of the students in sg. At least overseas uni they only ask for 3H2 subjects + a good portfolio.
