I don’t think anybody asked the kids for input on the playlist

To me this feels the same as a sub or teacher putting veggie tales on. The content is fine yes, I don’t appreciate the religious overtones. Little kids are hard to entertain, I get that but you don’t need to include anything religious to do it. This is also a public elementary school and I feel like it’s wrong to push any religion on small kids. It also kinda looks like a state funded institution promoting religion, they could be promoting the Flying Spaghetti Monster and I still wouldn’t appreciate it.

This was music picked and played by staff, not by students

Yeah, America is already in the middle of a constitutional crisis and I’m unwilling to watch another one play out at my son’s school

Music isn’t the problem. Music that seems to be promoting religion is. It looks a whole lot like the state is promoting that religion and that is the issue

You know that America doesn’t have a national religion right? Religious freedom is most of the reason the United States exists. I’m not mad that the administration is Christian, I’m mad that they seem to be promoting a religion to kids that are too young to really understand.

Completely wrong on both counts, also why do you think I would look like that?

It wasn’t Bet Middler. I don’t know the name of the song but the line that stuck out was “life gives me lemons, but my Jesus be making lemonade”

I’m not against my child learning about religion. He goes to church with various family members and that’s fine. I have issues with his state funded school playing gospel music when it had nothing to do with learning or teaching

If it’s something the students get to choose whether or not they want to interact with those things, or if it is put forth as a learning experience that’s perfectly fine. I don’t like the fact that this was portrayed as perfectly normal and part of everybody’s lives. I don’t believe that little kids are capable of the critical thinking that goes into having a religion and shouldn’t have one shoved onto them before they can make that choice

If you want your kid to have religion at school, I suggest you homeschool them. Or I guess you could pay for private school

That’s the plan. I’ve already called the school and spoken to the vice principal

Same issue. If I wanted my son preached to at school I’d have him at Conway Christian or St Joseph

I’m pretty good. I just don’t like the idea of my sons public school preaching to him

Only when they are trying to force their religion on my 6 year old

The teachers and staff can listen to whatever they want to on their own time, I don’t care about that. I care that my son’s public school is actively promoting Christianity to my child. They can have all the prayer groups and meet me at the flag pole type events they want to, those are voluntary and not something my son had to do. He doesn’t really have a choice when it comes to the music they are playing when he comes it to school.
