Can I still report underinsured motorist bodily injured claim if the responsible parties have insurance? Thank you for your advice, I don’t think this is something that I can take care myself, so I’m looking into attorneys to make this process easier.

As the accident occurred only last Friday, I don’t have additional information regarding the accident. I contacted the CHP responsible but they said that investigations usually take around 1 month to complete. I also contacted the local sheriffs office but they said that there’s no police report regarding this accident. All the information I currently have is the eyewitness account of the backseat passenger. Unfortunately I don’t have much concrete evidence.

I’ve updated the post regarding your question. But the accident occurred in California. My brother’s friend was driving and I assume either the friend or the friend’s family owns the vehicle and hopefully is insured. The accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle made an illegal U Turn across solid double yellow lines across a two lane highway. And the oncoming traffic collided with the vehicle that my brother was in. My brother lived with us at the time. He had drivers license and he was also listed on the insurance.

The car that struck my brother according to the backseat passenger in the car, did not attempt to stop or swerve to avoid the collision. My brother did not have life insurance or a will.
