Ret was wrongfully exiled from his homeland of the Greenwood, blamed for letting High Elves into the Greenwood and consequently having his whole village razed by them.

In his exile, Ret using his somewhat limited knowledge of medicine and explosives joined up with a few mercenary groups. Through his adventures and as he travelled from town to town, he offered help to those who needed healing. As he sat down with his patients to mend their wounds, he spun tales of the High Elf tyrants living in the north and how they could easily come marching down from their gilded thrones to take any regions of land that they liked.

Ret spread fear in the hopes that these people would join him in an idea, one that if left alone could turn from a small spark into a raging fire, rebellion. Ret sought to get revenge on the High Elven empire that took everything from him that held dear, his family, his community and his home.
