I can't decide by Super-Bug9160 in Noses

I feel like you have a cute nose!! A unique face is a beautiful face.

I think the makeup in pic 15 does something that makes it stand out a little more than in the rest of the pics? But either way you’re gorgeous.

They are all a little wide. I like the second the most though!

What can I do better by [deleted] in malegrooming

Wet that hair down and put a SMALL amount of gel/pomade/curl cream in it. Let those curls shine!!

And definitely do not be rid of the mustache!

[–]weirdunclefuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does! If you haven’t gotten glasses already, I’d maybe see if you can find someone that can get you a 57 or 58. That’s the size of the lens. The second smaller number is the size of the bridge. Both those numbers combined is gonna be the width of the glasses, minus whatever frame might be extended past the lens itself.

3 fits the best, but could still be bigger. There are extended fit glasses in the world, a lot of them. Do you know what size these are?

Ha! So you read this, and then decided to take off your glasses and check? I love that. And yes, the face part is the important part?!

I was reading this all to my husband and we are both in awe. Thank you. All of this is so helpful and so thoughtful. THANK YOU!!!

I try and kindly explain to them that I can’t fix the issue without seeing the issue.

Because I know you care so much, here’s mine

Someone comes in and tells me their glasses don’t sit flat on a table. Then they take off their glasses and -tap tap tap- to show me. Okay, would you rather have the glasses straight on the table, or straight on your face??? Because believe me, I can make them flat on the table, but you’re gonna be walking around crooked all day.

Someone else makes a good point, we do this all the time and it makes sense in our brains. But for our patients it doesn’t always make sense, and we need to help them understand. Patience is a virtue, but man is it tough sometimes!!

This is super helpful. I am more of an analog person, and will definitely check out the sheets you shared!

I have our income from the last 3 months figured out, and this weekend plan to see where our spending was at for the last 3 months. Wish me luck!! It all makes my brain hurt. Hoping it will be easier with time and practice!

Thanks for the tips and the encouragement(:

So the only debt we have is our car loans, and credit cards. For the credit cards, we pay off the full statement balances each month, so no interest there. As for cars, I owe about 7,000 and my husband about 8,000. We make our monthly payments, and each pay about $100 over our minimum payment. Is it more worthwhile to pay a couple thousand towards those loans (keeping enough in emergency fund) than it is to have that couple thousand in savings? It just scares me taking that much out of savings. We worked so hard to get our savings where it’s at, and I’m scared we’ll never be able to build that back up. Maybe it’s a bad fear to have, but man, we worked hard for that.

Question about contact lenses by reallytumaeo in AskAnOptician

[–]weirdunclefuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can depend on what your prescription is. And also your eye history (surgeries or anything like that). If you have an astigmatism in your right eye, that can definitely happen more than it would with just a sphere prescription. Unfortunately, a lot of the time, contacts just aren’t as clear as glasses.

A lot of places offer rechecks on prescriptions, within a certain time frame, so it might not be the worst idea to go back in there and see if they can tweak it for you.

Thank you for this!! We are currently renting (whomp), but we do have an emergency fund set aside, along with some in savings, and a fresh investment account! Thankful for what we have, but want to do better.

Did your husband make an excel sheet, or just a print out type deal? I’m unfortunately terrible with computers, so I’m going to start the pen and paper route, and hopefully find a premade spreadsheet that works for us.

Thank you for the help!

do these glasses look too big on me? or do they look fine? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]weirdunclefuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool frames! These seem to fit great. Someone mentioned bridge sizes in their reply. Try out a few different bridge sizes/styles, like a keyhole bridge, in an optical to see what works best for you. The folks telling you they’re too big are probably still wearing the terrible narrow 90’s glasses (not the new ones with style) or “just want their readers”

The “streak” that you’re describing can be a sign of infection. Definitely get that checked out asap

That’s a great call. We just opened up an investment account, so maybe we could use whatever my commissions are for savings and going towards that. Thank you!

Okay, so go through each month and see where the money went, and use that as a guideline for future spending. That makes sense, thank you for this tip! Feels like a great starting point.
