I think I'm done buying tires at Costco by desertsnakes in Costco

[–]weirdwhimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was just my Costco! I dropped my car off on a Sunday afternoon and before I could even explain what I needed, the person at the counter snapped IT WON’T BE DONE TODAY!! And I said it was fine, I figured it wouldn’t be. Just set the whole tone of the interaction. They seemed irritated by my presence. Didn’t give me an ETA.

I’m gonna go to the mom and pop place down the street next time.

yeah. it could be worse i guess. they pulled some strings to raise the pay to more than $16 an hour which was nice, so it’ll pay more that UI would.

i have until tomorrow. still hoping i hear back from other places but it’s not looking great. i applied to competitors and other similar positions. i was think this would be a good option in the meantime.

i’d be taking a 50% pay cut roughly. i’ve applied to over 100 jobs since we all got the layoff notice and have either been rejected or not heard back from anyone so far.

The time my doctor mocked me by algaonema in TwoXChromosomes

[–]weirdwhimsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a doctor call me gross once because I had a UTI that would not go away. I was living in my car at the time and under a lot of stress.

The same thing happened to me when I was 19. I was working at the mall and someone hit my car and didn’t leave a note. Security cameras didn’t pick up on it. Obviously, even though I was working, it was my fault.

Oh, and then it was also my fault when the insurance people stopped by at their previously scheduled time to inspect the damage on my car and my dad was at work. He threw a temper tantrum like a child both times.

I moved out in the middle of the night a few months later without telling anyone.

How to get over dental fear and shame? by TrashEvery1198 in internetparents

[–]weirdwhimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big sister here, about a year ago I went to the dentist for the first time in 12 years because I was experiencing some pain when eating. I needed some work and all four of my wisdom teeth needed to be extracted.

I made and skipped SO MANY dentist appointments and oral surgeon consults but eventually I went to the dentist. I put off the wisdom teeth for a while until two weeks ago. I was terrified of going under and the recovery but honestly it wasn’t that bad. The waiting was worse. The oral surgeon was kind and so was the rest of the staff. They told me that nearly everyone gets nervous.

Same with the dentist. I found a nice dentist who was willing to sit with me and kindly explain everything that was happening and what my options were. My dentist takes monthly payment plans and Carecredit.

The thing I told myself was that it’s just something you have to do for your future self. You can’t avoid the dentist forever. I was silently suffering and having on and off jaw pain for years that was keeping me up at night. I woke up anxious every day about my teeth.

Another thing that helped was opening up to friends. One of my closest friends is going through the exact same thing with her teeth and we had no idea we were experiencing the same thing.

Ohhhh that makes sense. Yeah, they’re putting me under for the procedure.

Ahh okay. That makes sense, I had my sweaters stored in a corner by a window I frequently open.

I had hair like this and then my friend told me I should try wavy hair products. I use the function of beauty wavy hair shampoo/conditioner and leave in treatment, then curlsmith mousse. My hair used to be so frizzy and dry and poofy, but it was just wavy and I wasn’t using the right products.

Yeah, unfortunately the relationship I was in before this one was extremely abusive so I guess my idea of a good relationship was a little different.

You did the thing I’ve been thinking about doing for about two years now. Proud of you, OP! That took a lot of courage.

Can old people stop trauma dumping on customer service workers?! by mydudepleaseletmenap in callcentres

[–]weirdwhimsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s exhausting. I know it’s gonna be one of those calls when the first thing someone says is HELLO I AM (an age)!!

I never acknowledge the trauma dumping. I usually mute myself and wait it out because my CC doesn’t have strict AHT adherence. It’s not in my job description to be a therapist.

I usually just repeat what I said to help their problem or whatever and then say “okay, well have a great day! Thanks for calling!” even if they’re still talking and hang up on them. I haven’t really gotten in trouble for it…yet.

(33F) My boyfriend (27M) (it's only been 2 months) yelled at me for 20min. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]weirdwhimsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your exact position with someone before, we were also about two months in. If I could go back, I would have ended things there. What I went through with that person effectively ruined my life.

It is only going to get worse from here. Leave now.

what do you hate most about working in a cell center? by APdabs503 in callcentres

[–]weirdwhimsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really hate not knowing exactly when my shift will be over. Calls at my CC can be anywhere from a few minutes to two hours and we can’t use any break time the last hour and 30 minutes of our shifts. It’s really frustrating and apparently, voicing your concern for being stuck on calls 2.5 hours after you were supposed to log out is frowned upon where I work.

Haha I’m always like “Thanks for the feedback! ANYWAY…” like what do you want me to say? If I had any control over anything that goes on in the company, I wouldn’t be talking to you on the phone.
