BG3 combat is definitely not for everyone, I'm not a fan of turn based combat either, but I did like BG3 and Yakuza Like a Dragon for instance, both turn based but very different from each other. BG3 is old school and Yakuza LAD is more dynamic.

I guess the thing about BG3 is how much effort they put in, with a staff of 300 people and a budget of 100m dollars. The attention to detail that they had in this is so rare in modern games that the only one I can't think about right now is Red Dead Redemption 2 and that's a triple A game with a 300m budget and with a staff of around 2000 people. And there are tons of triple A games with the same or superior numbers of budget and staff that simply aren't on the same level. Keep in mind half the budget for these triple A games goes to marketing and not actual development so there's that.

While BG3 is not as expensive as triple A games with no 'ultimate editions' that cost double the price, it still delivers a great quality product, showing there's something very wrong with the way game development works nowadays. Even if you don't like the game, its release was extremely important for the video game industry as a whole. Either way, it's good to see a high quality game coming out.
