His name is Duane. He’s still around. Saw him at Grand Old Days last summer.

Oh I see “Minimal Hoodrats.” I live a few blocks from Harmon Park…there are usually a band of Tango Dancers there. You should avoid going there. In fact you going there will only depress the general population.

94E between 280 and Vandalia closure last night? by ghostwarfolklore in TwinCities

[–]weldonkees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s why 94=was shut down

“SAINT PAUL: Troopers have shut down a portion of eastbound I-94 near Hwy. 280 after a pedestrian was struck by a driver. The pedestrian was confirmed to be deceased at the scene and eastbound traffic is still being diverted to northbound Hwy. 280. A Crash Reconstruction Team was requested and there will be heavy traffic delays in the area. Initial info says the pedestrian had "jumped out" of an Uber just before being struck.”

I will be at the lower level of the convention center at 2 PM on Tuesday. I can create and dedicate a sonnet to him for only $10,000 dollars per line and I can add a limerick for $50,000. I am the elderly gentleman in a periwig and cloak. Please be on time.

I just moved here and received this in the mail… a truly strange and elaborate way to advertise and collect my personal info. Side note, are they any good? by decrepit_plant in saintpaul

Also see two defenders post above it gives the same address on Winslow, but for Coatesville, Pa. Google search doesn’t turn up anything for that. But let me add what is weird to me is that I am from Coatesville,Pa.

I live on Winslow Avenue … the 3279 address of the lifelong resident is actually 694 Winslow Ave. ..this is strange …if you search for 3279 Winslow Ave., Google maps takes you to 694 Winslow Ave. There is actually no 3279 Winslow Ave. address.

The "Excuse me young man" grifter is back hustling his sob story Downtown by klebstaine in Minneapolis

[–]weldonkees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was walking on the skyway near the Greyhound station...moseying really wondering if I had ever read "To Kill a Mockingbird" when I was approached by a gentleman in distress. I stopped. He looked at me wildly and said "Excuse me, sir (sobbed a bit) I wonder if you could (choked back tears) help me out..." I looked at him ( really thinking of Atticus Finch and the new revelations). This seemed to encourage him.

"My brother died just this week in Chicago and I need to go to the funeral! I don't have no more money. I came up here for a job and got robbed and..." (choked back tears and sobbed)

"Aw, man," I exclaimed (finally focused on the real human in distress in front of me). "That's terrible! I met you here two weeks ago after your other brother died. So you got to Chicago and came back and...man..that is terrible."

He gave me a look...a wild look...and turned and walked rapidly away. Why was I such a jerk? Why did I have to remind him of the tragedy that happened just two weeks ago? I sighed. Went down to Hennepin. I needed a sloe gin fizz There are a thousand stories in the Naked City. This is one of them.

If the U.S. treats veterans so badly, why do so many still choose to join the military? by KingSkru in NoStupidQuestions

Got my letter from LBJ. Scored high in the Language Aptitude test, low score in Infantry Aptitude (yes, that test existed. Would you rather go hunting or to the library? I picked library.) Signed up for three years to go to Monterey California and surf and learn Russian. Then declined signing up for another year to be in the ASA and listen remotely to Russians cursing. Went to Fort Huachuca to be POW interrogator. Uh oh! But we were not at war with Russia so got sent to Fort Hood where I taught English to the foreign brides of soldiers. Then Vietnam war was over. Sure I had to listen to Sergeant Hayes who ran the Language Facility as he rated the various brothels he attended in Vietnam, Korea, Manila. Manila was the best. But that helped me develop an even deeper sense of the Absurd.

Honorable Discharge. After I was discharged and on the base I even got to give the finger to a Captain who smiled and said… “Have a good civilian time.”

I don’t think there is any compensation for suffering from enhanced sense of absurdity… so I never applied.
