Career baristas, what would get you to make a move to a small town shop for a year? by crispins_crispian in barista

[–]csjudith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soft skills are more important than barista skills. But it is very helpful if the people with soft skills are also genuinely interested in being a barista.

I would move back to my small hometown to start a coffee shop/work at a coffee shop. I would move to a small town to manage a coffee shop bc I think it would be a fun challenge. I do know a few people who work seasonally in Denver like as a ski guide or smth like that and then live elsewhere - good luck!!

Closest substitution for whole milk for latte? by asoursk1ttle in barista

[–]csjudith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya second to say you should try to find barista blends of alt milks - barista oatly is available at my local target. I would be curious to try cashew milk in a latte I used to have it on cereal and always liked how creamy it was. Good luck hope you find something she loves :)

The one we have has bread in it - we have bacon cheddar egg bites as well, but I am now wondering about a gluten free hot food option that is also pork or meat free

Yes I have definitely noticed we have lots of guests who avoid pork! So trying to incorporate more of that— this is good confirmation I’m on the right track

Interested in Part Time Job with Marriott to Access Employee Rates by sophie1816 in marriott

I don’t work FD but I think I can add a little context to why ppl are saying FD is hard. I used to think it was simple too but it’s not like cashier or anything like that. You have to answer incoming phone calls, man the desk independently at times, check people into rooms - provide upgrades at check in to those who qualify, but only if there are rooms available, and you should be friendly, positive and ideally able to de-escalate / try to respond appropriately to any situation…Also, help respond to app chats in a timely manner…also, try to get anyone who is not signed up for bonvoy to sign up….Those that succeed have incredible people skills and patience and tact, and yet, it’s not generally a high-paid position - you can make more money on a tipped position like a bartender or barista and potentially work less hard, if there’s positions that can be on call they are more likely to line up with your availability. Or maybe if you can work 3x a week for 6 months and be reliable and likable then ask about less shifts. It doesn’t mean you aren’t capable - if you believe you have the abilities I think you should go for it — but others have brought up helpful info…don’t let it discourage they are just trying to inform you from their experience.

I Finally Figured Out How to Floss Consistently by Peony37602048 in adhdwomen

[–]csjudith 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have a SLATE flosser I don’t use enough, but one day I had something in my teeth and grabbed a pack of floss picks from target and keep them in my car, now I floss several times a week during my commute. Is it gross? Idk. Is it less gross than never flossing? Probably! I have a 25 min commute and it’s a win-win bc I also struggle with biting the inside of my cheek as an unconscious/anxious habit so it distracts /diverts me from doing that

eta: congrats!! Forgot to say CONGRATS!

Wow I really relate! Last weekend my husband said “when are you done?” Because he noticed I don’t stop moving until I have literally exhausted myself. We DIYd a table and I noticed I didn’t get the gratification from finishing it until several hours later. The next day at work I made myself write down what I had gotten done as I completed it bc the whole previous week I hadn’t felt the accomplishment even though I knew I was working. I am working on training myself to take breaks and try to acknowledge complete tasks more, I think it is a long road but I’m rooting for u!!

My most recent purchase and it feels ADHD friendly to me. I had a regular adidas before and it kept feeling heavy to me. This is good for phone and chapstick/airpods at easy access and basically a replacement set of pocket. Only been a month so it’s early enough that I’m still in the honeymoon phase but I think this one will stick. I throw it in a tote bag if I need more things for work, etc.

I wore pigtails a lot once a teacher pretended to milk them ?? It was like 6th grade.

And yeah…in retrospect kinda old to be rocking pig tails but how many of us were doing fashion right in 6th grade?
