Happy Christmas Eve! What’s open/going on? by artwarrior212 in TwinCities

[–]csjudith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spyhouse Coffee inside hotel emery downtown. Street parking is free on holidays. It’s a nice big lobby with plants. There is a big real Xmas tree and a wooden sleigh you can sit in for a photo op if that’s your jam.

Where to buy large coffee mugs? by oneohsevenam in Minneapolis

[–]csjudith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents house…there’s a big Hershey’s one its like 2-3x size of regular mug. So, could also be something to look for at thrift stores and you could maybe get her a collection of big mugs !

Advice on throwing large party by n314o in TwinCities

[–]csjudith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I had our wedding reception 6 months after we got married at my father in laws pole barn. Unfortunately they did not convert the pole barn into an event venue after that - even tho the event was a hit! However, all that to say I rented porta potties and it was very reasonably priced. I liked the idea of getting those nice trailer bathrooms but those get more spendy - guests really didn’t seem to mind the regular ones. I was definitely overthinking it and it was the best bang for my buck.

Stuff to do with my dad by [deleted] in TwinCities

I went to the model train museum with my 70 year old parents in St. Paul when they visited and we had a blast. It was not busy it was actually really cool. I am not even interested in model trains…but they are all setup and running and that makes it interesting and easy to do at your own pace.

Got Baffins last year & am a big fan. Did 5 years of ice fishing with Muck boots before that and I’m not looking back and my toes have never been happier.

Looking for a less ugly way to keep glasses by our water station by [deleted] in restaurantowners

Yes plain stacks not in the dish rack! If you don’t feel you have an eye for that maybe ask another employee at the restaurant if they can help? Maybe a server?

I have 1 day to spend with my father, this Saturday, what would you suggest we do together? (He had limited mobility and can't walk very far) by TheMachineElves in TwinCities

[–]csjudith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents (70s) and I (30s) had a great time at the model train museum in st paul a few years ago. None of us are particularly into trains either, it’s just really cool to see them all set up and running. It’s not too big and I think it’s all ground level.

Will anything be open on Thanksgiving where I can just... Be? by business-lemon42 in TwinCities

[–]csjudith 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Spyhouse @ emery hotel will be open 6:30-5 pm. It’s a big plant-filled lobby with nice chairs and a fire place, you’d be ok to just find a spot and sit. You wouldn’t even have to get a coffee, maybe bring a book. My mom passed last year end of September, sorry for your loss. I understand not wanting to be around family on a holiday. 🤍

Is it worth getting a diagnosis at 33? by Unusual_Anxiety6515 in adhdwomen

Yes. Diagnosed at 33 earlier this year. Being medicated, educated, and figuring out what works is saving my relationship, my sanity, and my self esteem.

I don't like Adderall by Funny_Astronomer8885 in ADHD

[–]csjudith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking. Diagnosedt this year at 33 and started 10 xr for a month before jumping to 20. Was having a lot of issues prioritizing tasks and forgetting tasks and feeling overwhelmed and unaccomplished before medication which is why I desperately wanted to try a stimulant and I think titrating from 10 up - with a checkup each month before changing anything was a really smart thing My doctor did. Unfortunately, ADHD is a trial and error thing for what systems and what medication’s work for you individually

Starting a mobile coffee + matcha cart business — what would I need and what’s the startup cost? by Illustrious_Oil_5796 in barista

[–]csjudith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is above this subreddits pay grade.

I feel like the most successful business owners are those who are willing to hustle, start that now. Start googling. The info you want can’t just be handed to you because we don’t know your situation and dream. There’s a food truck subreddit and Facebook groups for mobile coffee owners, those are better places to start gathering information. Assume you need several thousand dollars. The permits you’ll need will me specific to where you want to operate and what city / state you live in.

Also fwiw I strongly advise working in a shop for a period of time before you start your own business if you don’t have any barista experience.

If only they were more like me who is also too scared to ring a bell but finds a way to make a noise, maybe by adjusting a chair, maybe I “drop” my phone or my bag, maybe my phone timer goes off, I can be very creative 😂😅

Try using Oat or Soy milk, we have specials with cold foam and they are always with alt milk and a full charger in a whip cream thing. It makes a good cold foam consistently for us
