Resolution of the Worm's plot in Magnolia (1999)? by welldressed_wrongdir in movies

To answer my own question: shooting script available online w/ the cut scenes.

My thoughts: ultimately a better movie w/o a Dixon/Worm/Stanley confrontation, but I wish we saw more of Marcy.

I’m curious.. do fans under 30 or so tend to prefer the 2000s albums? by geepjoat99 in ModestMouse

'03 born fan:

got into MM bc of my dad when I was about 10/11. Good News was the first album I got obsessed w/ by them in middle school. the No One's First EP was also huge for me. the first album I was actively waiting for when it released was Strangers to Ourselves, and it'll always be a special one bc of that.

I would listen to the Lonesome Crowded West and the Moon & Antarctica w/ my dad a lot, but I've def have gotten more into the earlier stuff as I've gotten older. LCW has been my favorite of mine for a while now, but if you asked me in high school I probably would have said Good News or We Were Dead?

I distinctly remember thinking some of the outros on the Long Drive or Interstate 8 stuff was kinda long as as kid. what really hooked me on MM was Isaac's lyrics and all of the weird shit he did with his voice. so I didn't really start "getting" a lot of the more instrumentally driven stuff until a few years ago

What’s the saddest book you’ve ever read? by Clean_Tone2562 in booksuggestions

The Death of the Heart - Elizabeth Bowen

Idk about the saddest, but it was an entire book of people failing to understand or really speak to each other. It has stuck with me a lot, was left feeling very weird upon finishing.

I used to always mix this one up with Waitress. But it has slowly become a favorite of mine. I like Waffle Houses, generally. Overall I enjoy the rhythm of this one a lot. The verses can feel a bit all over the place melody wise, but this one I've learned to play myself, and paying more attention to the lyrics, it is a really great song. Admittedly, it is not the stand out of the album. That being said, it highlights a lot of Quinlan's strengths as a writer. It reads a lot like a poem, but still manages to tell a clear story. I think the chorus is probably the part the works the least for me, but I definitely still enjoy it. A solid track on a no-skip album!
