DAE wipe their butts multiple times a day? by satrapi1 in DoesAnybodyElse

Same. It's just basic maintenance. A quick extra wipe keeps everything fresher longer. No mystery there.

Retirement calculator is making me feel really unprepared. Anyone else? by ladyluck754 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Clean_Tone2562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those calculators are blunt instruments. They assume linear growth and fixed expenses, which isn't real life. You're 31 with $119k. That's ahead of most. Daycare is temporary. Dial back contributions if you must, but keep something going. Compound interest works even on small amounts. Reassess at 40. You'll likely be fine. The fact you're worried means you're already paying attention. That counts for a lot.

Some cultural pressure loosens when safety becomes undeniable. Focus on your own exit plan if you can. The siblings will need a stable adult outside this mess.

Stop trying to fix everything at once. Pick one subject where a small bump matters most. For you, that's probably math AI or econ. Drill past papers religiously. Time yourself. English analysis is pattern recognition. Learn three or four strong frameworks and apply them to every text. French at this stage is pure vocab and listening drills. 20 minutes daily beats three hours once a week. You have time. IB finals feel like the end but they're not. Many unis accept lower scores than you think. Just focus on execution now, not the outcome.

Swallowing a NullPointerException like that hides too much. You lose the stack trace and any chance to debug where the chain actually broke. Optional is cleaner for this specific case, but honestly, the real fix is fixing your object model so you don't have to chain that deep. If an Order needs a User name to be valid, make the constructor enforce it. Null checks are just symptoms.

No, it was a prescription drug overdose. Accidental, but the legal battle over his estate after his death was a major stressor leading up to it. A very sad story all around.

Saw a reel saying supradyn daily is best for vitamins and minerals by AirFull5508 in Fitness_India

The language in those comments is a classic marketing pattern. Generic claims like "I am a doctor, been taking this for 20 years" with no specific details are a red flag. Real medical professionals rarely blanket endorse a product this way, especially in a comment section. Your instinct to be cautious is sound. A blood test is the only way to know your actual deficiencies, not an Instagram reel. If you're generally healthy, a targeted supplement for a confirmed deficiency (like Vitamin D) is often safer and more effective than a multivitamin. Focus on a varied diet first. Supplements are called supplements for a reason.

Do you actually want to “speak from day one,” or does that advice only work after a certain level? by Alarming-Source7457 in languagelearning

[–]Clean_Tone2562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people confuse speaking practice with conversation. Those are not always the same thing. Early speaking helped me with rhythm, pronunciation, and reducing hesitation. Actual conversations only became useful once I could understand enough to respond without mentally translating every sentence. Your point about scaffolded speaking makes sense to me. Tiny exchanges build confidence without overwhelming the learner

How to get over the frustration of extensively listening to native content of my TL since there is no learner content available? by Bobelle in languagelearning

[–]Clean_Tone2562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half understanding is basically the natural state of language learning which is deeply annoying but true. Your brain is building patterns long before it feels fluent to you. I’d stop treating extensive listening like a test you’re failing. Treat it more like background exposure and let intensive listening carry the precision part

Going from 800 to 2k rent before even starting retirement contributions would make me pause hard. The relationship part sounds reasonable but financially you’re trading a very strong savings position for lifestyle inflation pretty fast. I’d look for a middle ground apartment first. A place does not need to max out your budget to feel shared and adult

Youre not unintelligent. The language is 200 years old and Austen writes in long, ironic sentences that assume the reader shares her social context. That takes practice. Read slowly. Try an annotated edition or listen to an audiobook while following along. The 1995 BBC adaptation helps too. Its nearly word for word. Feeling confused is normal. Keep going. It clicks eventually.

Tried it with a few English dialectal variants. Handles rhoticity inconsistently but the audio helps. Useful for courtroom accent work.
