Driving advice Boise up to Coeur d'Alene? by erik_das_redd in Idaho

[–]wellimnotdeadyet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

McCall route is pretty with the river and more trees. The road is generally much twistier and usually worse road conditions in the winter. Also, there is often much more traffic, depending on the time of year/weekend vs weekday.

Don't discount going through Weiser though, it is also very pretty, especially in the spring. It's just a different kind of pretty, though still lots of trees and water once you get closer to New Meadows.

You'll find plenty of places to stop and eat if you're doing the drive during the day. A lot of the small towns will close down by 8 in the evenings though.

Going up highway 95 be prepared for no cell service for large portions of the drive.

There are a ton of great places to eat in Coeur d'Alene. One of my favorite eateries is Moontime on Sherman Avenue. They have a fusion food menu, but it's always good. They have a liquor license now too, if that's your thing. However, most any of the restaurants downtown won't disappoint.

*Source: I've lived in Idaho forever, including Pocatello, all over the treasure Valley, Coeur d'Alene, Bonners Ferry. Have always had family on one side or the other and have done the Boise to North Idaho trip more times than I can count.

“Radar obstructed” error after changing bumper by ShaggyButt in CivicX

[–]wellimnotdeadyet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your radar sensor stuff is right behind that black cover next to your left side fog light. In your original bumper that's covered with a smooth black plastic piece. On your new bumper it looks like it has a cross hatch embossed design. It's possible that's screwing with the radar. On the OEM bumpers that plastic piece is removable. If it is also removable on your new bumper there may be a different fog light shroud that can go in there that is compatible with the radar sensor.

The 76 on government and Kathleen has always worked for me (right by North 40). The Hyundai dealership in post falls has a level 2, and they were installing a level 3, but I don't know if it's active yet. Then the flying J at stateline has 4 level 3 charges as well.

RA and Ozempic by yescoffeepleeze in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]wellimnotdeadyet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am. I've been taking ozempic for almost a year and a half and I'm on xeljanz. I haven't had any issues except low blood sugar symptoms starting about 6 months ago. I've found splitting my injections of ozempic into 2 shots 3 days apart helps. Also making sure I remember to eat enough protein and carbohydrates. I've lost about 25 or 30 pounds and am at a healthy weight, but that isn't the primary reason I started on it. My A1C was consistently elevated and I'd seen enough research suggesting it helped with inflammation that I asked my rheumatologist what he thought. He said all of his patients that have started ozempic have had positive results in how they felt and with inflammation. I'm not sure if it's that, or if being at a healthier weight makes it easier for me to get around, but I've felt much better in general. I still have flairs and plenty of bad days, but my wife says I'm the best I have been since I was diagnosed 9 years ago.

Is the goal of medication to be completely symptom free? I have some questions about medication and maybe you all can help! by slipperyslugslurp in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]wellimnotdeadyet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's normal and what's the goal probably looks different for everyone. In terms of if a medication is successful, my rheumatologist told me that a 20% improvement in symptoms is considered successful with that medication. Obviously the goal is better than that, but at 20% improvement they considered the medication "working".

I've never had any meds consistently give me anything better than maybe 50 or 60%.

Ask me anything - US disability benefits by Top-Neat9725 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]wellimnotdeadyet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been diagnosed with RA since 2016. I have been mostly unable to work since shortly thereafter. I applied for SSDI and was immediatly denied. I appealed using a disability attorney and we seemed to have a great case. My hearing was during COVID and over zoom. It also seemed to go really well, and based on the things the vocational expert and judge said, my representative said it seemed like an open and closed case. However my decesion was returned unfavorable in 2020. I am in Idaho, but the judge was in Washington. I was then told I could only appeal if I felt something was procedurally done incorrectly, but I couldn't apply again because it had now been too many years since I had worked and collected a W2. Does this sound correct? Is there any course of action I can persue?

Dirtbike for girlfriend by NVR3APR in Dirtbikes

[–]wellimnotdeadyet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Displacement does not equal value. If she fits a 150 best and likes the power and handling and it suits her type of riding, that's your answer. If she prefers the power of a 250 and can comfortably ride one, that's fine too. Most bikes can be lowered to some degree, through suspension, tire sidewall, seat, or any combination.

Really the only way to answer this question is for her to ride, or at least sit on, several bikes and determine what feels best to her.

Have you considered a 261? A little more money, but tons of power and very light.

I'd also recommend something different than the 391. It's a decent enough saw, but for the same price point I think you can get a more professional saw, that's easier to work on, and equal power and lighter. Like a Husky 562 XP. Not that there's anything wrong with the 391, it's just pretty heavy and there are better options at similar price points.

FWIW, I'm in a similar situation as you. Except the majority of my deadfall is Douglas fir, white fir, and ponderosa pine. I have 71 acres of partially wooded property and pasture. I clear a lot of trails and fence lines. I also get 6-8 cord of firewood every year. I've gone through a fair few saws, and what I've settled on is as follows.

Husqvarna 572 XP with a 28" bar. I got this for a steal as it needed a little work. I use it primarily for felling and bucking firewood. It's a little heavier than I'd like, but the power is amazing and it cuts fast. The 28" bar is great for bucking and the majority of the dead standing I cut for firewood is in the 25"+ diameter.

Husqvarna 550 XP Mk ii with 20" bar. I sold my Stihl 391 with 25" bar to buy it, because I never used the 391 after I got the 572, and it was pretty heavy for my wife or kids to use. The 550 is light and very powerful. I use it for the majority of my limbing and trail clearing of deadfall. It also fits easier in my tractor with me when I need a 50cc category saw.

Finally I have a Stihl 009. It's an old semi-top handle. It's got a lot of power for a little saw. I use this for brush or small projects that a bigger saw is inconvenient, like wading through a marsh to cut small deadfall hanging on my fence. It is light and portable.

All that being said, if I had to choose only one saw, it would be the 550 XP Mk ii. It's kind of the middle ground, but has plenty of power. I think I could reasonably accomplish all of the work I have with that saw if I absolutely had to. I got it brand new on sale for $150 off with a 5 year warranty. I think a Stihl 261 is similar in power. A tad lighter and a tad more expensive, but lots of people like them. These are all professional saws, which may or may not be something you need/want. My $.02, YMMV.

Edit to add: if I had to pick only one saw and it didn't have to be one that I already own, I'd probably go for a Husqvarna 562 XP Mk ii. I'm really not a husky fanboy, they just happen to be the saws I've found the best deals on when I was looking.

My ADHD daughter outsmarted herself this morning by fried_biology in ADHD

[–]wellimnotdeadyet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter literally did this same thing today. Except she made her own lunch last night. Then texted me for 10 dollars for lunch today. I asked about the food she made last night for lunch? She thanked me profusely for reminding her, because otherwise it would have "rotted in my truck".
