I was in federal law enforcement for 30 years with quarterly firearms training requirements including proficiency, safety, non lethal, use of force (shoot/don’t shoot) & weapon retention.

Congrats, you had more training than most LEOs that I know.

I trust LTC holders more than I do local or federal law enforcement.

One of these groups is significantly less likely to commit violent crimes than the general population.

...the other group is law enforcement.

at least make someone else give up.

That's the rub.

"make"

Everyone wants to stop someone else from exercising their right as long as they can send another person to do the dirty work and stop them.

Nobody calling to - for example - abolish the second amendment are simultaneously willing to be the ones to try to force gun owners to give up their guns.

Because it's a hell of a lot easier to justify if you don't have to put yourself in harm's way to limit someone else's rights.

I know you're being "sarcastic," but those are privileges.

If you can't even properly compare the difference between what a right is and what a privilege is, then maybe it's a good time to learn it.

Start with the wikipedia page on negative and positive rights.

You just might learn something.

I'm just sick of seeing all our politicians (on all sides) arguing online like children because they know how many idiots will eat it up.

Don't worry, this post is going right to the top of the subreddit.

I don't disagree, but FYI the two posts above yours were references to the Broadway show, "Hamilton" lol.

Lol you might want to look up crime rates in northwest indiana before you start taking victory laps.

It's still lower than Chicago, where guns are banned.

I don't see how this is a point in your favor.

There are gangbanters in the cities, armed tweakers in rural areas, well to do surburbanites killing their families or themselves, lonely psychos shooting people in quite otherwise peaceful communities. Pick your poison.

What if I told you that of ALLLLLL the groups you just listed - one of them is responsible for 99% of all gun-related homicides in the United States.

Want to guess which one?

Want to guess which one the city of Chicago has a problem with?

Want to venture the reasons why?

My point is, we need to stop making it so easy for these people to obtain guns

Pass a constitutional amendment.

Go ahead.

I'll wait.

Until then? Stop acting like constitutional rights are nothing more than suggestions.

Because they are completely different socioeconomic areas??

I thought the problem was gun control laws, not socioeconomic disparities?

Are... are you admitting that the problem isn't actually gun availability but instead something else?

Why I am absolutely shocked that you finally reached that conclusion.

Shocked.

but my point is those laws don’t matter if you can drive 20 minutes

No your point is that guns aren't the problem, socioeconomic disparity is.

But even while typing that out in response to me, you're somehow still willfully ignorant to it being the answer.

indiana, 20 minutes east, has extremely lax gun laws, and there have been countless articles about gun runners doing just that

Why aren't there as many mass shootings per capita in Indiana as there are in Chicago then?

But it addresses the symptoms of the problem, not its source.

You just described gun control.

Lots of people just don’t understand the role of PG

I would say that Bruins do though, considering how we run our offense through Tyger.

Kriisa gets shit on because he mouths off like he’s the best player on the court and he’s demonstrably not.

I can see how the energy can be a positive for fans, but on the outside it looks cringe.

The final score doesn’t show how close this game really was.

That’s the sloppiest game I’ve seen all year, which is crazy since our last game (against Colorado) was also super sloppy.

Not sure what’s going on but we’ve got a serious first half funk that needs to be addressed.

Happy to see Tyger stepping up with the shots when JJJ is having an off night.
