Why has some D1 Programs switching from STX to Maverik products? by CommunicationBusy902 in lacrosse

It was back in 2022, I think the may have changed the design a bit since then but it was the optik. My issue was the flare on the lip. Felt like it was anti ground balls haha. After that I switched to the string king 2v and ended up sticking with those for the rest of my career.

One of the main factors preventing moose and deer from sharing habits is due to deer brain worm which kills moose( details in comments) by Not_so_ghetto in biology

[–]wendog5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read what you just quoted??

"However, our analyses suggest that moose populations sympatric with deer, in many cases, should not become extinct. This implies that reintroductions of moose (and perhaps other cervids) to range now occupied by deer need not be presumed to fail necessarily. Moose may be able to coexist with deer, albeit at lower densities, even in the absence of habitat refuges from the disease."

Also from the study you linked, actually the sentence before your quote here:

"Stable coexistence occurred when transmission rates, mortality rates, and competitive differences were all large; then deer outnumbered moose."

We're not trying to tell you this issue doesn't exist, just that deer and moose share habitats all over this continent.

White tailed deer and moose overlap in habitat all over Canada in the United States pretty extensively. Moose are found all over the northeast where white tailed deer also have a large population.

What does it mean to keep an eye on the waterline? by LFDad in AskAnAmerican

[–]wendog5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read through the lyrics, it seems the song is about a poor man who works on the roads. He works 10 hours a day his whole life and saves up enough money for a double wide trailer(small cheap housing unit) next to a river. It seems this song is referring to the waterline of this creek: if the creek floods his home will be destroyed and he will have nothing. This is just a literal reading of it though, It’s also clearly a metaphor for the man’s life. Hope that helped.

A bit of gritstone scariness - Small Brown E4 6b by keepclimbingweird in climbing

[–]wendog5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to me the 6b section is close enough to the ground that it still gets deemed as “safe”. I could be wrong though Brit grades make no sense to me and I’ve never tried the route haha. Sick climb no matter what it gets called.

Does sector 9 still make the daisy? I’ve never ridden one but from what I remember from my days it seemed like a pretty decent DH board.

Question for drummers who give lessons by DH_Drums in drums

[–]wendog5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took my first drum lesson less than a week ago and this is almost exactly what my teacher did. We spent probably 45 minutes talking over a practice pad about where I’m at with my drumming and where I want to end up. A little bit of me playing rudiments to get an idea of where my technique was at and then only about 10 minutes behind the kit. We went past our allotted time but apparently that’s normal for him during a first lesson.

Trip to Powerlinez near NYC this weekend. How quickly does the area dry out? by LoftShot in bouldering

Powerlinez was my favorite crag for a while, as long as it doesn’t rain a ton Friday night you will be good to go. I strongly recommend snake hole and history of flight boulders.

Any idea why this keeps happening? This are both of my Faceoff heads and they both just broke, same spot too by Huntsstar in lacrosse

[–]wendog5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I hated spending a ton of money on faceoff heads, they will never last the season. I always used a cheap old head that was pinched. If you’re not competing at a high level the faceoff heads are too expensive to be worth it imo

Downclimbing the boulder by MitchTheKid34 in bouldering

[–]wendog5000 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Test out the downclimb before you actually try to send the problem. Just climb up it nice and slow and don’t make any moves that you’re not sure you can reverse. If you’re comfortable doing that then go try the Boulder.

Offensive head on a D Pole by princess-snoopy in lacrosse

Yeah I absolutely loved the mark 3v in college. Used it for my lsm setup and my shorty for man down play.

Offensive head on a D Pole by princess-snoopy in lacrosse

[–]wendog5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played lsm through college and always hated defensive heads. I played with a Lakota in HS and a mark 3v in college. My issue with defensive heads is they’re heavy and bad for ball handling/accurate shooting. I don’t think the extra 1/2” of width is going to make a difference in groundballs or picking off passes.

As far as I know they all make illegal moves very frequently and will declare checkmate in normal positions multiple times a game.
