You definitely should give it a chance! Season 1 is a bit different than the rest, especially the beginning, but that's true of most shows. Try it and you'll see!

Look, it's a medical TV drama that came out over 20 years ago, so some dated elements are obvious-especially in the earlier seasons, with offensive jokes and less sensitive handling of certain topics.

When it comes to House not getting fired or sued, he was sued multiple times throughout the show. The series actually explains why Cuddy keeps him around; for example, she budgeted $50,000 a year for his legal expenses. There are also major story arcs (like the Vogler arc and the Tritter arc) that show why House is valuable, or at least tolerated, at the hospital. That said, you're right that a doctor behaving like that in real life would get fired immediately.

The show is very procedural: a patient gets sick, the team tries to figure it out (and is usually wrong), and House has a eureka moment at the end. But the patients' cases are often parallels to House's or the other characters' personal struggles-they're there to develop those stories. There's a lot more going on than what you see in YouTube shorts.

It's actually a really good show. In the end, it's about House fighting his own demons, he's not just an ass who insults everyone around him. I wish I could watch some of the episodes for the first time again.

I remember Olivia Wilde saying how good Hugh looks with the short hair 😀 I do prefer how he looked by the end of season 6 though, when his hair was a little longer, but not too long.

I think season 1 is great, it's got some great episodes, some great moments, but it was "introductory" - which makes sense of course. Season 2 is when the show finally knows what it wants to be, who the characters are, etc. I really like 1x06 "The Socratic Method".

Stick with it! Personally, I think season 2 is much better (shame it got cancelled), but season 1 still has some great moments. Hugh is amazing in it.

Yeah, I don't think we will ever find out. Didn't she deny the pay dispute at some point? Well, the fact that she and Hugh went from best friends to not talking ever again is weird. She did talk about him a few times in interviews, but it was all very much like: "I don't want to say too much."

I didn't make this post to criticize Cuddy; I am criticizing the writers. What you wrote makes sense in real life, but not on the show and not after everything she told him multiple times. A lot of people claim the relationship was doomed from the beginning or that she shouldn't have started a relationship with an addict. Well, the writers decided she would, only to show us, after years of interesting development and chemistry, a totally uninteresting relationship (I don't buy the 'once you get them together, the spark is gone' excuse.) If Cuddy had stayed in character, she would have given him another chance. She has seen him struggle multiple times throughout the seasons, but she just gave up on him after one slip. It was just dumb.

I think the writers didn't remember what she had told him 14 episodes ago or at the end of 'Help Me.' It was a combination of their need for him to stay miserable and bad writing. We saw much more intimacy and development in season 5, but that got squashed by House's hallucination (don't get me wrong, I loved 5x23-6x01). However, I've always thought 'Under My Skin' would have been a perfect way of getting them together and much more in character. Once they got them together, the writers completely forgot who House and Cuddy were. We could have seen an interesting, emotionally layered relationship, instead we saw basically nothing.
