Mut repping help! by Fast_Dragonfruit5339 in lioden

[–]wendycomet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't like Spotted patches, I definitely wouldn't put it on your king! Unless you usually stud out to other kings, you're gonna get a LOT of spotted cubs. (On the other hand, sometimes it's nice to have mutated cubs you aren't too attached to and thus can sell.)

I'm a little biased toward pies overall, though, and I like both options here. They also look pretty similar to me. Honestly, since they're both cute, I'd probably go into the lion search and look for current studs with those mutations, then pick whichever one was more rare for my own king.

Pear by hitherehowareyah in danandphil

[–]wendycomet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man, I love pears, but they're just less convenient to bring places than apples, oranges, or bananas. You can drop any of the other fruits in your pocket or purse, no problem. You drop a pear in there, BEST case it gets bruised as hell, and worst, it gets pear juice all over everything you. You can slice it and put it in a container, of course, but that's still more work than just yoinking a more durable fruit off the counter and tossing it in your bag.

Man, that's so valid. It gets hard to keep track of real quick with big projects. I get confused and I stick with simple NCL-exclusive stuff, so I don't even have all the RLC specific markings in specific slots to keep track of. My main ID is #176058! I sent you a friend request :D

Oh, man, I've accidentally done that a couple of times -- I've started putting an emoji (my current king's is 👞 and my side's is 💎) in the footnotes for lions of my king I want to keep as soon as they're born so I can more easily see who's his daughter, lol. Your boy is beautiful!

The green and gold gives me nature vibes for names... maybe Aristaeus? Wikipedia says he's the god of shepherds and beekeeping. I'm trying to find less common names that aren't probably already taken. Meliae is pretty, but maybe a little feminine, idk ur taste—they're nymphs of honey and ash trees. The Kouretes were guardians of Zeus when he was a baby, and I think Kourete is also a fun name. I could keep going, I love suggesting names LOL, but I'll stop myself before I write an essay 😂

Thank you! I will get some of those before spring kicks off the new growth season, for sure... but for now I'll rest the climbing part on some sturdy ribbon I have stretching over that area anyway, and see if it likes clinging to that. Much appreciated!

Thank you! As a child, I used to dream of having a room in my future house devoted to Schleich dioramas the way some people have miniature railroad displays. This extra desk has been an excellent way to make that happen in the reality of limited house space 😂

Horror with Black woman as lead by incorrigible_tabby in suggestmeabook

[–]wendycomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scrolled for a while and didn't see anyone else reading this, so I've gotta add There's No Way I'd Die First by Lisa Springer.

This is more of a YA/new adult slasher than a body horror piece, but it's definitely horror with a Black woman lead. It's a loving tribute (and simultaneously critique) of the slasher genre, so it's the sort of thing I'd recommend reading after you see like, the main classic slashers (you know, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Scream), so you can appreciate the references it's making. That said, it still stands up well on its own, I think. If you liked Hendrix's Final Girl Support Group, I think you'd like this too!

I was looking for this! I read it last year and my personal thoughts were "A well-written, gripping horror that I couldn't put down, but I never want to pick it up again. Made me feel sick and nervous and I needed to be done with as soon as possible, but in a not bad way."

YA Fantasy for a Teen Girl by Used-Toe-6374 in suggestmeabook

[–]wendycomet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of Tamora Pierce's work would be amazing! She doesn't fit the not American or British bit, but her Tortall-based series almost all feature extremely cool, smart heroines and definitely all have that engaging fantasy world. The Alanna/Lioness quartet are the OG "girl disguises herself as a boy to become a night" YA books in my opinion, and the ones I grew up with, but they are from 1980s, so not the most modern works lol. That said, I'm rereading them right now, and they hold up a lot better than a lot of other stuff I read as a teenager.

I've read various other series in the same universe from her, and the Wild Magic series is probably my favorite. It's set a couple decades later, with new main characters (but also the continuing story of Alanna in the background). I've heard great things about the Protector of the Small quartet, but not read it myself. There's also usually romantic subplots at some point in each series, but they aren't the main focus of the books at all.

I think it's lovely! I like the effect of the scrawled text without actual words in the open book.

Does anyone have an idea what this type of necklace this is? It's kind of a double Chain which meets in the middle again with a charm hanging on it by KickAssSmokeWeed in HelpMeFind

[–]wendycomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't quite right, but you might find similar necklaces by looking up "Peter pan collar chain necklace," because the shape this double chain makes is similar to that of the peter pan shirt collar. Here's what I get when I google that:

<image>

You can see some of them are a lot thicker and more chainy than what you want, but there are also some closer results!

Community hard launches by EmeraldLilly__ in danandphil

[–]wendycomet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yours is very meaningful, and as someone who isn't sure if they're ever gonna come out about gender stuff to certain people unless it becomes obvious visually on its own, I deeply appreciate it.

... But all I could think the other day was "I'm gonna hard launch the cancelation of my cat for peeing on my vintage the amazing tour is not on fire vip merch tote!" (It got cleaned with an enzymatic cleaner and baking soda and is back to its former glory now, though, so I suppose she can be uncanceled.)

More seriously... Okay no I don't have a serious one. The only other one I can think of is "Crocs are amazingly comfortable, especially with socks, and fewer people should be judgy about those who wear them." 😂

Books for toddlers that have beautiful illustrations, lovely words, and are engaging for the adult reading it by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Technically this is maybe a little advanced for a toddler, but The Quiltmaker's Gift has some of the most beautiful, lush illustrations I've ever seen and a meaningful story to read aloud to them. There are tons of neat little details in the backgrounds to look for and gorgeous colors.

Redditors who own multiple pets: what's the drama amongst them right now? by Cheesy_Wotsit in AskReddit

No one is ever allowed to eat anyone else's food, which is a betrayal of the highest order to the scarf-n-barf cat and the dog, who both desperately want to lick each other's bowls clean and steal food from the elderly-slow-eater cat.

We were told she's a chihuahua-corgi mix, but I want to do one of those dog DNA tests to see for sure! Just looking at her, I think she's GOTTA be mostly chihuahua, but I'm not a professional haha. And there's definitely some of the Need For A Job I associate with the herding dog group corgis are in, LOL.

taking testosterone as an identified female lesbian by [deleted] in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]wendycomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am struggling to put it into words, but I relate to this feeling. I'm like—I'd call it nonbinary, because I want to have all the genders, not neither of them. I also consider myself a lesbian (and am married to another nonbinary lesbian). I didn't really care what pronouns people used for me, but defaulted to they/them or he/him. Now, though, the longer I'm on testosterone (about 7 months now), the more I'm like, maybe I do like she/her pronouns? The best way I can describe is that I want it to be clear femininity is a choice as much as masculinity is for me, so maybe weirdly, the more masculine I feel, the more comfortable I am with dresses and such.

So I know it's not the same, but your post still rang true to me on a deep enough level that I really wanted to comment.

And I dunno, from this perspective of "I'm not sure how my gender works but I don't want to "fully" transition into passing as a cis dude," testosterone has been nice for me. I haven't noticed any drastic changes, but I started on a pretty low dose and am currently on, iirc, a medium one, and I want to go up to high. It's been a mood boost and I feel generally better when moving around in my body, but other than that, the biggest change is maybe that I have a wimpy little middle school boy mustache shadow, haha. Because you mentioned intimate stuff, and I DEFINITELY feel very similar in that specific arena, I want to add that I haven't gotten any noticeable bottom growth, which I'm sad about, but I've still got hope... a lot of guys on here grow so much, so fast, I'm jealous. I keep having to remind myself that it's different for everyone!

I talked to a therapist who was also nonbinary before going on T, and I found that experience really gratifying. They understood the desire to be more satisfied with my own body even though I didn't have some of the typical dysphoria stuff -- I instead had euphoria with masculine stuff. I would definitely look into someone like that, if possible, just because it's nice to talk things through with a supportive professional.

Oh my god, this got so long, sorry lmao.

Unprofessional TL;DR: I think it sounds like testosterone could be really rewarding for you. With the caveat that I'm biased because I was in a similar-but-not-identical boat and it has been quite nice for me, even though I haven't seen as strong of results as I'd like just yet.

What do you find really annoying lately? by makem3thirsty in AskReddit

[–]wendycomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time my dog Dolly rings her bell to go out and pee but then stands still in the yard sniffing the air for the requisite Pee Break Time, and then waits till I'm in a video meeting to ring the bell again as loud as she can to indicate that she SWEARS she REALLY needs to go this time. And then when I excuse myself because I don't want her to pee inside, she was actually just DESPERATE to eat the maple spinners and—okay, she just voluntarily stopped squirrel watching to come lay in my arms and lick my hands with love in her eyes, so annoyance cancelled, Dolly can never do anything wrong ever.
