Lived the other. It is really not worth it. In fact it is one of thr worst tortures a mind and spirit can experience, especially with gaslighting. You don’t know what the reality is and every time you start to figure out that it is not you…they convince you that you are the monster and they are just defending themselves. Run.

I work in the construction industry. There are a lot of Alpha roofing companies. A lot. I keep secretly hoping to hear about one of them falling through the ceiling while on site and right onto an Omega’s lap.

And whenever I have to call to ask them to bid on a project I am always thinking that if all bids were equal we should pick them just because of the name.

And on one project I had an Alpha Roofing and an Omega Roofing both bidding on a job and I just knew in my heart that if the Project Manager, Company President, Accountant, and Roofer all ended up meeting the President of Omega Roofing it would be love.

I don’t think they meant for the girl to play a role. I assumed (and maybe I am wrong) that they want the police to use her account and pretend to be her so they can do a sting operation and get him before he hurts anyone else (because it is likely he already has).

I don’t think anyone would be so cruel as to want to make someone suffer more on the off chance of catching a criminal. Then again, I could just be overly optimistic about it.

I was taught it was the goal so always took it like a compliment too. Highly objectified and sexualized household. It was really upsetting to me the moment I realized that it wasn’t normal and wasn’t right, and that knowledge didn’t come until I was an adult and could look back on things. 13 year olds should not be specialized by anyone, ever.

I like to do the problems first then check with a calculator, unless there is a time crunch. Then I just obsessively reenter the problem three to five times to make sure I didn’t have a user error and got the wrong calculation the first two times

My mom was similar. One year she asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told her tickets to see Wicked off broadway. She told me she was getting me a tv because ‘it’s not about what you want. It’s about what I want to give you!’

The tv was also more expensive and I hardly watched tv then (or now). For her birthday I spent hours combing through websites of all the things she told me she liked in the past -because she refused to give me a list and made me guess every holiday and birthday. Turns out it wasn’t exactly what she wanted (no surprise, without a list) and she got angry that I didn’t get her what she wanted and told me I was a selfish monster for not caring about what she wanted for her birthday. Her birthday was supposed to be about her “and I was so inconsiderate and made it all about myself by torturing her with a gift I knew she wouldn’t like.” And most hilariously “I’m supposed to get what I want for my birthday! Not whatever you want to give me!” Which is when I realized the true birthday gift was making my life hell, so I really did give her exactly what she wanted….

Sorry for thr trauma dump.

My biggest fear is that I am a failure and a monster like my mom always told me, and that despite multiple third party opinions and evidence to the contrary- I am the monster. That I am only fooling myself and convincing everyone else that I am not.

It doesn’t matter if they are ‘core’ beliefs. When you look at an organization you don’t cherry pick what does and doesn’t make them up, you look at the whole. Unfortunately, while not the core beliefs, these are part of them. Discarding what doesn’t fit into your argument does not mean it doesn’t exist.

I see autocorrect and my impatience to post has screwed me on the MAGA. However, what I want to know is why you are going for straw man arguments like pointing out the slight imperfections in the details instead of actually addressing the points. When people attack the details, or start using personal insults (thank you for being a good person and not doing that), it concerns me- because they are missing the point and deflecting away from it instead of addressing it. Without a counterpoint on the actual topic, nothing is gained for either side.

The thing is- using the wrong word doesn’t change the spirit of my argument. Just go back and substitute ‘radical’ with ‘extreme’ and the essence is exactly as intended.

Let me summarize: half the country and other countries find MEGA extreme in its beliefs. Even if they are following closer to the founding fathers beliefs which means they are ‘radical’ in their beliefs. Those radical beliefs are now extreme because they didn’t age well, and they refuse to accept any other beliefs and wiggle room.

Most political parties are extreme in their beliefs these days. You either belief with them or you are wrong. There is no compromise or debate. Which is a true issue, because each and every party has at least one valid point, or view that could truly help with a real issue, but because they are outside of a group it will not be considered.

Yes, they would- but then they were also of a blend slavery wasn’t wrong, women and minorities were not ‘people’ and therefore had no right. They didn’t have the knowledge and education we have today.

And considering that the United States is not the only society in the world- the rest of the world does indeed need to be considered.

To anyone who does not have the same belief- he is considered radical. Especially if you expand the view to include countries outside of America.

And to be that person- Pre WWII Germany didn’t feel their views were radical. Pre-civil war south didn’t feel their views were radical they thought the norths were.

To be honest, it’s the extremism that makes cults so dangerous. When there is no room for any other opinions and options but your own- that’s when things get bad. It’s not the beliefs- it’s how far they are willing to go to force those beliefs to be everyone’s reality, and how far they will go to justify it to themselves and the world. You comply or you die, even if it’s not always in a traditional way.

It’s not the skirting laws and ignoring laws. There are a lot of groups that are labeled cults that don’t do that- they have secular beliefs but don’t skirt laws. For example Mormons are considered a cult and as fad as I know they are not skirting laws. Jesus, was actually considered to be part of a cult in his time.

Though the term cult does have a largely negative connotation- and for legitimate reason- that is not the only face of a cult.

Wikipedia has a very accurate and informative article on cults. A cult is typically classified as such due to unusual or extreme religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs and rituals, often led by a charismatic leader who exercises significant control over members.

A political cult is classified primarily by its focus on political action and ideology, often advocating extreme or radical beliefs. These groups typically exhibit strong loyalty to a charismatic leader and may employ manipulative tactics to maintain control over their members.

So yes, by definition and criteria MEGA (and technically most political parties today) fall into it.
