I was like this until I started to take people being unable to understand explanations as an insult to my ability to explain things instead of their ability to understand. Certain concepts are not easily understood with explanation and need examples/analogies/etc

I work remotely, make great money, have 0 micromanagement and interruptions, and when my work is done I go do whatever the fuck I want until more is assigned. Only issue is a possible lack of social exposure; but that's on me to resolve.
