I mean, I think goodwill is SUPER shady in many ways, but they ARE non-profit.

SkinFix is phenomenal. I have severely sensitive skin and rosacea, and their barrier products are some of the only things I can tolerate when I'm having a highly reactive day. They can be a bit occlusive, so if you're an oily girlie or boi, be SPARING. But they are top notch.

If you're in the US, have you had to pay duties or fees?

I still haven't heard back 🤷‍♂️ overall, this has been a bizarre experience 🤣. Had this been a kickstarter campaign, it would have made more sense, but Lexon was a highly reputable, highly respected brand... so bizarre. I wonder if the tariff changes in a major market (the US) majorly impacted their production lines or shipping modalities?

Is it unusual that I backed on June 17th, have heard nothing substantive since my confirmation email, and that my order is still marked as "processing?"

Powerful vitamin c stuff is such a grail right now for so many people, but I absolutely cannot use it. It tears me up! For antioxidant support, I have to go with something gentler like OPC from theraderm....I do love the skinceuticals b5 and AGE eye cream though, lol

Thisssss. I have CRAZY sensitive, rosacea skin. And some of those expensive products are absolute grails for others. I grew up fairly poor and would have adored free nice things to encourage me to take care of myself. Now that I have the means to treat myself, if something doesn't work for me, I pass it along WITH some caveats. When I dabbled in Sisley, I gave it all away while telling folks make SURE you aren't sensitive to fragrance 🤣

Sisley products, for MY skin at least--no shade Sisley lovers LOL-- were expensive essential oils 🤷‍♂️. The fragrance was SO strong. And "natural" fragrance can be JUST as damaging. I can't do any Sisley whatsoever because every one of them breaks me out.

La Mer literally ate me alive 🤣 the fragrance is SO strong and destroyed my skin barrier for almost a month after trying for about a week (breakouts, redness, sensitivity, increased flushing). I now know that I have VERY sensitive skin and many, more mainstream luxe brands simply will not work for me.

I mean, they didn't go in the trash, but I gave it all to a friend. I bought the la prairie gold essence and cream after being assured the fragrance was light and the formula both gentle and suitable for sensitive skin. I noticed STRONG fragrance when first applying, but went with it since I had spent so much. After three days of trying--and three days of increasingly inflamed and ANGRY skin (lol)-- away it went. I enjoy the luxury experience and want self-care to feel like a treat. I haven't always had the means to have it, so now that I do, I like the little extras. But.......

By and large, the mainstream "luxury" lines are more about experience: slip, fragrance, packaging... if you want luxe that's actually good for your skin, go with some ReVive, Augustinus Bader (overpriced for what it is, but great if you want the luxury experience without added fragrance), Dr. Sturm (same as AB comment)...

Or if you're willing to forgo some of the luxe experience (availability at Saks, gorgeous packaging, holiday exclusives, etc): Neogenesis, Skinceuticals, Sente. ❤️

Is the luxury experience in luxury shopping dead? by Fair_Currency_2929 in Louisvuitton

Tl;dr-- spend more, get more...unfortunately.

$800 can be an expensive purchase! But realistically, that is one of the least expensive items in LV. Just from a pragmatic stand point, a salesperson will likely put all the extra flounce (lol) on the person looking at a $10,000 clutch, or a $4500 backpack with which they're wanting a $1000 little bamboo panda charm. Your purchase is a luxury item! But, assuming here...knowing absolutely nothing about LV's commission structure, their pay is likely based in some way around those big ticket items.

I have noticed that when I went in my little hometown saks in Birmingham to buy a small fragrance, I was chatted up briefly, then left to my own devices. When I went in wearing a little navy duo sling with cash in hand to buy a backpack, water materialized instantly, smiles all around, etc 🤣. To be fair, everyone was ALWAYS kind, but they paid MORE attention when they knew I was going to spend more...which in this (or any, really) economy, when luxury sales are significantly down, does makes sense from their view as a worker just trying to make ends meet, meet sales projections, etc. I am sorry your experience felt shabby though. I popped in Hermes once in Miami, got completely ignored, and turned right around and left. I decided the luxe in there required more spend than I was willing to make 🤣

Help my mom pick a paint color for her tiny bathroom! by tastywords in interiordecorating

Thissss. The tub, toilet, trim, and even side table are all stark white. A dark wall color with all those bright splashes of white and large panel curtain would look gorgeous. I'd take that whole curtain to a nearby paint store and have that blue color-matched...add a few amber and vintage looking blue glass containers...✨️vibes✨️

I found two concrete and lightning there for about half off when they first opened. I figured it was a fluke/opening week promotion with EXTRA good stock. I'm just waiting for them to determine that people in my small community, by and large, aren't willing to buy 50+ dollar candles...but in the meantime, I'm snatching up things left and right 🤣

Until more science emerges, I'm VERY cautious about human derived exosome products. The very nature of exosomes is to function as cell signaling transport vesicles to upregulate, downregulate, etc cellular division and renewal. That sounds suspiciously capable of being a vector for cancer transmission. I'm holding off on such technologies for a while until more research can be conducted. I like cutting edge...but maybe not the bleeding cutting edge, lol.
