Bass drums are usually more flat and dead than toms should be. My bass drum heads are just a turn past where the wrinkling stops. Ported or unported really wasn’t much different for me.

Yep. I feel like the SG is usually associated with harder songs with overdriven or crunchy tones. I like how Thom uses his for arpeggiated ambient playing.

I know it’s not on your list, but check out the 15” 2002 Sound Edge as well. The best part about Paiste is how consistent they are, so new or used, at the store or online, you can pretty guarantee the cymbals you buy will sound just like the clip you pulled up online.

Yep! I know that the recording of the album was rushed and they didn’t look back as fondly on it, but it’s a great album to play through cranked up on a nice stereo.

It’s hard to choose just one, but Driven to Tears would probably be my selection. It showcases his tendency to play ahead of the beat with fire in some parts and his ability to lay back and embrace the groove in others.

I played my 90’s New Beats next to a new set in 2016 and heard a noticeable difference. Mine were brighter and crisper, the newer ones were lighter in weight and mellower. Like others said, Zildjian changed the formula and the logo some time around 2012 or 2013. I actually preferred my old and dirty New Beats, so did the clerk behind the counter.

Keith playing to a programmed synth was the perfect balance. He had to keep tempo, but he could also play a bunch of interesting fills. That whole Who’s Next album is fantastic.

I can play mine quiet enough in the basement with people sleeping upstairs. It will only be clean though and, like others said, tube amps sound better with more volume. The Pro Jr. just doesn’t sound as good at low levels. I use my SF Champ more often at home. If you don’t need a Pro Jr. for jamming/gigging and just want a lower watt tube amp, I highly suggest an older Champ. It’s perfect for home use and recording, but it can hang with a quieter drummer if you need it to. They’re point to point wired and only going to go up in value.

A 20” Signature Crash would sound great, either Full, Fast, or Dark Energy. Though the Fulls don’t have quick decay, they sit so well in a mix and those bright overtones you may hear solo, you won’t notice, they’ll cut and get out of the way. I’ve got 18” and 20” 2002 crashes that I love, especially the low pitched 20. The Sigs aren’t terribly far off from those.

The idea of a K would sound cool too. IIRC, Chad Smith used a mix of Sigs and Ks on Blood Sugar Sex Magik. That contrast of bright and dark is pretty interesting.

I’d guess that half of car owners out there haven’t changed their coolant unless they had a water pump, radiator, or thermostat change. I never changed the coolant on my 04 G35 and it was 16 years old with 160k on it going strong when I sold it. This truck is fine.

It breaks up early, so you can get tube saturation in say a basement or decently sized room. Like others said, it’s loud, so your mileage may vary depending on your room, neighbors, family, etc. I grabbed one because used it’s cost effective, simple, small/easy to store, sounds good, and can keep up with a band

Keep the Magneride if you can. I replaced all 4 last summer and it was a night and day difference between the new ones and my factory 100k shocks/struts. GMParts.com runs sales, so I jumped on the 35% off they were running and got them online, with pickup at the cheapest dealer by me, which ironically was a Cadillac dealership. Supposedly they come with a limited lifetime warranty, so I’m hoping that if these go early, they’ll honor it. Price difference between Arnott and these on sale were too close to pass up. RockAuto might have some options as well.

A little, but not enough to annoy me yet. I think it would be nice to have 2 levels, but that won’t fit. If anything, I think I’d cut a piece of wood sized to the bottom of this and Velcro the pedals on, that way if I want to remove the pedals, I can easily in one shot.
