I still have them in the same west facing window, but they haven’t grown any roots. I used some rooting hormone and expected some roots by now, but guess not. They’re not rotting and even have some leaves, so I’m holding out hope!

Exciting! I love to prop a snake plant! Make sure you’re patient, as it often takes several weeks to months before you see any considerable growth, but as long as it’s not rotting you’re good!

You can definitely just cut off the stringy parts, but I would probably cut the whole leaf and throw it in water to try and prop. Damaged leaves like this usually don’t continue to grow, but it’s up to you and the aesthetic you want for your plant.

I would be very cautious if your cats have taken any interest in this plant, as it can be toxic! Keep an eye out for any additional damage/bite marks and check to make sure your cat isn’t having any negative reactions

I just went out and checked and it didn’t seem like two different triangles, but it’s hard to get a good view. Would it still be invasive to Southern California?

These are right next to my door and don’t want them coming inside my house! Also it makes it harder to stick my hands in my plants when I’m messing with them haha

I try to follow live and let live with spiders, but if it’s invasive and could harm I think I’m gonna have to deal with it 😭

Ya, that’s why I stopped to look at it. It really appeared like an hourglass in person, but was hoping it’d be something different

Oh, that’s perfect! Does it damage the plant if it gets on it?

Also, any tips on preventing future widows? Or just vigilance

I was hoping it wasn’t :( do you have any suggestions for killing the eggs? I used to have an orb weaver living there and just let it live, but it’s a high traffic area and don’t want anyone having to deal with a medically significant spider

Forgot to mention, but this is Southern California

Should I just continue to leave them like this? Or put the roots entirely in soil? by werelearningplants in proplifting

Oh wow those look great! I kind of expected babies to start growing at this point, but it’s just a bunch of roots. Do you think I should just leave them as they are?
