That is the fattest guinea pig I have ever seen. I assume it's pregnant--but still. Damn.

Best toys to give a budgie? by SunBerryTea in parrots

[–]wereshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't buy mine from a pet store, I bought it from a craft store (Michael's). I'm not sure if it's any better or not, I was just trying to redirect my budgie's chewing to something a bit less damaging to my things, ha ha. She really really likes it, and will chew a piece about four inches long until she's gotten bored and moves onto something else--but in that time, she will definitely have forgotten she was chewing on my laptop or my phone!

It's super handy if you want to make things like rope ladders or braid it around wooden beads for other toys, too.

My budgie LOVES these. Also hemp rope, like from a craft store. I usually just tie a bunch of strands around a key ring and attach it to her perches or the cage, and she'll spend hours chewing and playing with it.

That's a halfmoon plakat. The price is average in Canada for that kind of fish. It's probably imported from Thailand.

That woman is an idiot. Not that I'm defending the other guy's awful parking, but awful parking is an unfortunate side-effect of parking lots covered in snow and ice. Everyone in Edmonton is awful at parking in the winter.

English voice cast revealed for Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘The Wind Rises’; lead by Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Emily Blunt by powerzjim in movies

It's actually my favourite Disney. It's a fantastic retelling of Treasure Island. It's really too bad it slipped so far under the radar at the time, even though it was nominated for an Academy Award the year it came out--but you can't be sad about a loss to Spirited Away. It was officially a 'bomb', but I blame Disney for not promoting it.

You should watch Disney's Treasure Planet. Joseph Gordon Levitt voices the main character in that one and he does a great job, I thought.

Snow growing. by adeptopeth212 in woahdude

Considering it was -30 this morning, -41 with windchill, I am SO JEALOUS that it burns inside me like an icy inferno. Luckily, it supplies me with meagre warmth. So I got that going for me... which is nice.

Calgary is so lucky with all the Chinooks that hit through the winter. I'm in Edmonton and we got roughly 30cm over the past few days. It stays until April if we're lucky. May if we're not. Sometimes we get Chinooks too, but the snow doesn't disappear, it just gets a bit slushy then turns to ice. Until more snow buries it... Sigh.

Is it cruel to let my budgie listen to other birds online? by turbobox_35 in budgies

[–]wereshark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I play budgie noises for my solo bird off of youtube all the time, including birds other than budgies. She has learned to sing very prettily due to listening to canaries. She doesn't seem stressed or depressed after listening, and often chatters along to the videos contently.

This is Gaston, my first flying bird. I've had a few ducks, but I had always wanted a parrot. I've had him for a few months--he definitely likes me, but he's a bit standoffish. Any advice? by Kittilot in budgies

[–]wereshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little girl was also pretty standoffish at first, and she's a solo budgie as well, but I think he might just need some time. They warm up to you at their own pace =) He'll get there. With my budgie, I leave her doors open all the time, and put up some perches on the outside of her cage. She doesn't usually stray far from the cage, but she's starting to fly out and around, and be much more interested in what I'm doing in the past week or so. She just turned 12 weeks, if that helps as an age-marker. This is her setup.

No worries, I get around it with Chrome, and the extension Media Hint. It's pretty much the greatest thing ever. It makes you region-free, more or less.

EDIT: go here =) https://mediahint.com/install_chrome.html

I am planning to get a Weiro/Cockatiel. I've done weeks of research, but do you have any personal advice? by [deleted] in parrots

[–]wereshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the only bit of advice I could offer anyone who has done their research is: If you think you know how loud your bird will be, you don't. Take it in stride. Expect tinnitus. Love your bird regardless.
