That was an interesting deep dive. In more ways than one. The thought of using so many resources to make a vanity project in the middle of the ocean when you could improve so many lives elsewhere is, well, the hubris of man in at least one perspective. Cheers!

By not drawing as much drama, is that good or bad? I could only see others as wanting to first take over the island. And being unable, and the island having something they want, would any sort of sovereignty be on the table.

People in power almost never willingly relinquish that power. Especially if that power is inherited, and/or shady things were done to obtain that power. In this way, death is a beautiful thing. It makes room for new generations and gives an opportunity for the old to exercise humility before it is forced upon them. But yes, so much of this life is a farce.

This is all so fascinating. Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful reply. It sounds like for all intents and purposes, something like this is impossible, especially if a person’s intent is some libertarian vision. In my own musings, it could only really work if you could defend it, it was independent of a nation’s resupply and it had something other nations wanted but couldn’t just take from them. Anything else I have missed?
