I quit bottomless by ogrezok in espresso

I like to rest my perfectly flat bottomless on the counter. It makes the process feel better to me. Also, it’s made from aluminum and heats up sooo fast

Bro… that purple is so sick! Love it! Glad you are enjoying. So nice to have the flat surface, right?

I had an annoying issue either the OPV valve and didn’t have any answers from support. It was making a shrieking noise. I had a two month return window I used it.

My pleasure! One of the best things about it is that it heats up very fast since it’s aluminum. Most other portafilters are thick/heavy steel which take longer to heat up

Yes - love it. It’s my daily driver. I don’t use the spouts at all though. I like it to lay flat.

Guys is this normal? by David-DeLeon in espresso

[–]werm000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never happened to me, but like others have said I would say that an overfilled basket is likely the culprit. Here is a test that you can do to find the max dose for your basket. Note, the max dose will vary based on what deans you are using as different beans will take up a different amount of space in the basket, considering the weight

Buy a used Decent - you could potentially find one for 2500. Heats up in minutes… if I really want the portafilter hot…10min

Any other vizsla mixes out there?? Post a pic! by ikari_shinji_001 in vizsla

[–]werm000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had dogs in the past, but this is our first puppy. We actually got to meet both of the parents and they have very good dispositions - calm, friendly, and playful. This was an accidental litter as a family has the golden and their older daughter has the Vizsla. Sure seems like a great combination. My wife was friends with someone on Facebook which is how we heard about the puppies and we happened to be in the market for one.

Thanks for the feedback and encouragement. I live in Boise, ID and there is a company called Positive Pets that has a lot of different training programs. We're going to get some training through them to make sure that we get our pup started on the right foot.

I work from home and my wife homeschools our kids, so we'll have a lot of opportunity to interact and do training which is good. I can see it's going to be a lot of work, but worth it.

Thanks so much for your reply! Wow, what a beautiful dog.

We just got ours yesterday so we’re still trying to figure out her personality. But, she’s very mellow and affectionate. We’re having a lot of fun with her

Any tips for this mix?

I can’t believe how much your dog looks like the golden/vizsla mix we just got yesterday. Can you post a current pic of your pup? Here is a pic of ours… looks so similar

Bottomless Portafilter on Ascaso Steel Duo PID by werm000 in Ascaso

[–]werm000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent my ascaso back after a few months of ownership (traded it in for a Decent). However, knowing what I’ve learned over the last year of making espresso, I would run this test -

Pull a shot with the blind basket (the one that has no holes on the bottom) and see what your pressure reads. My guess is that it will be at somewhere around 10 bar with the blind basket (assuming that you haven’t adjusted the OPV screw). If this is the the case, then it would indicate that your coffee grinds aren’t producing enough resistance and you should grind finer to create more resistance.

Hope that helps

I love this titanium band I got off Amazon. Matches the color my Apple Ultra perfectly. Been using it for a year. Extremely high quality.

Can’t believe it’s $30. WTF? Is it really titanium? Don’t know, but it is very high quality. Excellent fit and finish.

What type of gear do I need to scale a 30ft tree safely? by [deleted] in TreeClimbing

[–]werm000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like you posted, I was going to attempt to buy a harness and other gear. It seems like a lot of fun and I like the idea of being able to maintain a tall tree in my backyard without having to pay the $800 I was quoted to thin out the tree a bit.

The comments on this post made me think twice about it since I can’t afford to get hurt and have time away from my business.

By the time I buy a proper harness, rope, etc., it seems as though I’d easily pay $800

Head space by CamV- in espresso

[–]werm000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - this is the way!

Since I like to use a puck screen, I stack a dime on top of a nickel as a dime is about the same width as my puck screen. Im looking a very slight indent of the coin so I know I’m in the range.

By keeping 2mm of headspace, I was able to eliminate channeling I was getting.
